Evening Goldie, excellent voucher usage. Lovely way of having a hassle free (or reduced hassle) Christmas meal.
I saw a rat when I was walking the dogs the other day - really do not like them at all.
Many years ago I had two cats who were excellent hunters. I lost count of the times I came home to find mice running through the kitchen.

Brilliant use of vouchers, Goldie, well done to both of you.
Very bad news on the mouse's relationsI was told that rats and mice can climb up drainpipes, so if there's the least hole at the top, its completely easy for them to enter.
That's it. What sort do you have, Goldie, where did you get them? I've got ebay open on another tab, but there's a huge variety, and I know nothing about them. Between the rat I had in the attic a few years ago, and that one that was in my garden the other day, I'm feeling the need to take action - and take care of it myself rather than having the pest controller again, he was good, but expensive, and about to retire in any case.
The drain pipe is on the side of the house where I first heard the scrabbling noise, so that could well be how they got in. We are going to get some filler, and go up there and fill in any gaps or holes that we can see.
The make of trap we have is 'The Big Cheese', and you also buy a tube of bait to put on it. We bought it all from Dobbies, but I noticed it on eBay
Mouse count this morning was one, and the sound of the trap closing woke me up at 2.30 this morning:eek:
We are taking it as a good sign that the other traps weren't sprung, but we'll have to see what happens tomorrow when we inspectTilly_MFW_in_6_YRS wrote: »Evening Goldie, excellent voucher usage. Lovely way of having a hassle free (or reduced hassle) Christmas meal.

The old cat I had as a child used to leave mice and birds at the doorstep, but fortunately never brought in live ones. That would not have impressed my mum!
Financial news today - Mr Goldie's Winter Fuel Payment has arrived, and has been transferred to the Bills account, ready for use. He's not of state pension age yet, but a woman his age already gets her state pension, so that's why he gets a WFP and a bus pass. Much appreciated it is too.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Mouse count - 0 Things are looking hopeful
Today we've taken advantage of the pleasant weather to give the garden a good tidy up before winter starts. Although we still have some flowers that are blooming so we left those for the time being.
Also went out for a good walk.

That *is* a good day. I've really missed being out in the garden with all this rain.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

The forecast isn't too promising for the next few days, so we thought we'd grab the opportunity to be out, while we can.Early retired - 18th December 2014

An encouraging thought about mice. If you have mice you don't have rats. (A pest controller told me this - we face a running battle with rats on the stable yard and now I have learnt this I am happy when we only have mice!)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Mouse count for the last three mornings - zero.
So that must mean the rats are moving in !:rotfl:Early retired - 18th December 2014

My cat dragged home a mouse trap with the mouse still in it during the summer. Like a takeaway.... Why chase it yourself?Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Oh good grief! That really takes the cake ... er, bait!

The people who set the trap in the first place must have been completely mystified when it disappeared!
We went to the cinema this afternoon to see 'Spectre'. We normally go on a Tuesday or Wednesday to take advantage of Meerkat Movies. But today's show time suited us better. However, we had enough Odeon loyally points for a free ticket, so we still had 2 for 1, which was a result.
The film was great fun, but so far fetched - that's Bond for you.
Driving home we noticed a few Christmas decorations had gone up over the weekend, a sure sign December is nearly here.Early retired - 18th December 2014
