Hiya! I'm glad you had such a good time
Amsterdam is wonderful, isn't it, and the Anne Frank house is humbling ... I've been to Amsterdam a few times now - there's a secret church too, I think? The Floriade, the flower festival, is great too!
And yes, the moderation of the MFW section is my spiritual home nowadays - it *was* DFW when I had debts2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Well, I'm out of that thread now, someone has said something I felt was a kind of rebuke, so I'm going to leave it there.Hiya! I'd love to go back to Amersterdam to see more of it. The weather was so bad, that when we had our 'free time ' after the Anne Frank house, we just huddled in a couple of shops, rather than go for a walk. Another time I'd like to go on a canal boat ride, as you see a lot from the water.Early retired - 18th December 2014

sorry to hear that. I thought you made some valid points and all your comments seemed reasoned and well thought out. Their loss

Hi Goldie
I am really pleased that you had a good time on your mini cruise. I'd like to go to Anne Frank's house - really interested in history.
I am sorry that the experience on that thread wasn't a good one - I read your comments and they all seemed reasonable to me. It's a pity - but as BW said, it's their loss.

Hello everyone.
I'm pleased to say my washing and ironing is up to date, and I'm about half way through writing my cruise review. At this rate, the review will take longer than the cruise!
I've got a curious eBay situation going on.
I sold an old photo to someone in America, and sent it by the Global Shipping Programme. You send it to a centre in this country, and then eBay take over the delivery responsibility.
This person opened a not received case a couple of weeks ago, but eBay closed it in my favour, as the tracking information shows it was delivered to the distribution centre, so I've done my bit.
Anyway, this person is having another try to get a refund. He's now opened a return request, the reason being 'item damaged', but then says in the note 'item never received'
So he's claiming damage on something he says he's never received!
There's no point in accepting a return as he'll have to send it back for a refund. Which is difficult as he say's he's never received it.
I've spoken to eBay and they say, whatever happens, it's nothing that will damage me, as the item definitely was received at the distribution centre, so I've done my bit. It looks like it's gone astray after clearing customs in the U.S.
I've messaged this guy, saying I can't do anything, and that his issue lies with eBay themselves. I've suggested that he phones them to sort it out with them.
I'm waiting to see what happens next. The feedback he's left for people is a bit off, so I have a feeling this isn't the end .
But this is my first difficult sale in 6 years, so you have to expect this sort of thing at some point.
As we seem to be tipping into autumn, I've reinstated our weekly soup night. One day a week we'll have homemade soup and rolls for dinner. I've noticed that my weekly shopping bill crept up during the summer, probably because I was doing exotic recipes that I'd seen on Lorraine, so hopefully the average spend will creep down again.Early retired - 18th December 2014

You've done well to get just this one oddity on ebay in 6 years
I had one a few months back where they said the item was broken and they wanted a refund (was about £65 inc postage) (it was a very heavy metal item) so I asked for pics - they kept emailing me through ebay in reply but never managed to send pics. I even texted them - and my texts and emails were all very polite and trying to be helpful but wanting to see the damage before committing to a refund - but the communication suddenly dried up - we did wonder if they were trying to 'pull a fast one' and gave up on it..
I had neutral feedback left recently - something like 'lovely item but had to pay to collect parcel as insufficient postage' I replied to the feedback that I would have been more than happy to refund costs and compensate if they had contacted me first. I know postage was sufficient as it was weighed at PO counter by their staff - can only guess one of the 2 stamps on there came off(Was on a polybag package) I would rather have paid out than had neutral feedback!
Ebay *is* a pain at times, but is still a very useful vehicle for getting rid of items - huge audience and the majority of transactions are without issue!

I must admit when I was packing it was a joyous moment when I threw out all my eBay packaging! Would be interesting to know how much we've all actually made over the years - I wonder if we'd think it was worth the effortA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

You're doing well, Goldie. I quite agree that photos of damage etc are entirely reasonable and realistic, when the item's been received. And I'm glad ebay are supporting you on your own case - just goes to show how important the tracking is!
Those magazines of mine are going in the recycling on Thursday night (my bin has a slight leak, and I want as little chance as possible for them to get wet before collection on Friday morning!).2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Some things definitely have been - like when I sold a single old foreign bank note for over £50, or an unwanted gift which cost £5 for £25 (there was a bidding war right at the end) - but the effort sometimes is massive for very little actual real return after all fees etc - and mileage to PO. It has proved a useful vehicle at times but am sure that it is far more hassle now than it used to be. (I've just spent the past 3 hours listing things on there - urgh!)
