Yes, I think you should have a new one as this is clearly unfit for purpose. Why should you put up with something that has been repaired before you have even used it?Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!

Thanks for that link, Fortune Smiles, that's really helpful.
I was trying to find the info earlier on the CAB and Trading Standards website, but couldn't. I should have known MSE would be the answer.
If it can be put right relatively simply, I'll probably keep it, as it is just right, and there are few other options for a freezer in a garage. But if it's anything more major, AO will have to take it back and give me a replacement or my money backEarly retired - 18th December 2014

That's exactly what I was saying to them on the phone, but they say they need to have the engineer out to confirm it's not working.
I'll see what happens on Monday.
We were originally going to buy this freezer from JL, but the delivery time was 21 days with JL.
I can't help wishing I hadn't been quite so impatient to get my freezer delivered.
I'll stick to JL next timeEarly retired - 18th December 2014

With this weather, you could just leave the frozen stuff in my conservatory and it wouldn't defrost!Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!

I know what you mean, it's been freezing recently. I think it's supposed to be getting warmer, but I must admit we haven't been out at all today.
At lunch time we had burger and chips. It was homemade turkey burger in a HM bun, with HM Mayonnaise, with a bit of rocket for decoration. Although the chips were bought oven chips. I was so pleased with the way it looked, I nearly took a photo of it - it tasted good as well.
I listed a couple of eBay items, but the focus is on sales this weekend.
Two items have sold today, and I have 11 that will sell over the next few days, and there's other auctions with watchers. It looks as if the listing frenzy will pay off, but I won't be listing like that in a hurry. It was just too much.
I had a look in Ancestry. I didn't find any war records for the great great uncle I was interested in, but someone has posted two photos of him. I can only see the thumbnail size photo, which is frustrating. One of the pictures shows him with his horse and cart, at a road junction I recognise. There also a group of children lined up. I wouldn't be at all surprised if one of the children is my nan. I'd have to subscribe to see the full size picture.
Maybe I'll subscribe again in a few years - it's only six years until the 1921 census comes out, so there'll be lots of new info then. I'll just have to be patient!Early retired - 18th December 2014

The engineer came to look at the new freezer this morning ..... he's not really sure what's wrong with it, and wants to order a new control panel
But I've been on to Appliances Online, and have asked for them to take away the broken freezer and let me have a replacement, which they have agreed to. Also, I've asked them to unpack it for me, free of charge ( they normally charge for this)
The new freezer is coming tomorrow.
Hopefully the new freezer will work, and this will be an end to it.
I've had to push to get this resolved quickly - it would still be drifting along if I hadn't been on the phone asking for things to happen.
Once they are pushed, they seem to do what they are asked to do, but I don't think I'll use them again.
It's been nice and sunny here, we've been for a walk. Maybe spring is nearly hereEarly retired - 18th December 2014

How annoying Goldie!
But it sounds like you have done the right thing and hopefully it will be resolved quickly.

Yes, hopefully it'll be resolved tomorrow. The engineer said these freezers are normally very reliable, so I hope we've just been unlucky this time.
The eBay sales are currently standing at 14 over the weekend and today. I've got a couple of auctions finishing tomorrow, and one will definitely sell. As a result of all these sales, the decluttering total has gone up to 128.
Mr Goldie had a letter from the Inland Revenue. His tax code has been changed....... But it's totally correct now. They've split it between his two pension, from his provider, Scottish Widows. I have a feeling Scottish Widows contacted HMRC about this, so thanks to them.
I understand the over 55's can now get a pension forecast under the new pension system. I'm 55 on March 15th, so I'll make sure I'll be sending off my request as soon as I can. I was contracted out for many years, so my figure will be quite low, but I can make voluntary NI contributions to increase the amount, so I'll do that. I'll have 10 years to try and catch up. In the words of MMM, my future self will thank me!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Hooray, we have a new freezer in place, and it's working !
They said they'd deliver it between 7am and noon. It actually arrived at 6.55am. its the earliest I've been up since mid December !
We've been putting up some shelves in the garage, and finding homes for things. There still things to do, but we feel progress has been made today. Later, I'll transfer the food from the old freezer to the new freezer, and defrost over night. The plan is to get the old freezer on eBay at the weekend

We had our eyes tested today.
We both get free eye tests, Mr Goldie as an over 60, and me because my mum had glaucoma.
We last had new glasses several years ago, and new sun glasses even longer ago, so we were both thinking of getting new glasses, and as our prescriptions had changed slightly, we decided to go ahead.
We went to Specsavers, and as they do 2 for 1 we were both able to get a new pair of glasses, plus sunglasses, all with good quality variofocal lenses for £672. If sounds a lot, but if we'd bought all that at our previous independent optician, we'd have spent much more. I think we've saved the best part of £1000!
The spending didn't stop there. This afternoon we've booked up 4 coach trips for later in the year.
But I'm pleased with our purchases this morning, and will look forward to the outings, so it's all good.
The garage is just about finished, and looks very tidy.
I felt we had stalled with the decluttering for a while, due to the holdup with the broken freezer, but we're rolling again. As I'm in the mood, I hope to go back to the wardrobes tomorrow for more decluttering.Early retired - 18th December 2014
