I inherited my mother's DC02 Dyson and although various bits had to be replaced because everyone kept whacking things with it and the plastic perished and was brittle because it was so old, it kept going like a proper old trooper. I know taking it to the tip meant that it ended up back in the the middle of Plymouth in Regenerate, so it was cannibalised for spare parts or rebirthed for a new lease of life. I bought another Dy$on (reconditioned) - an Animal - no idea of the number, and although it's heavy, it sucks up everything and it's easy to empty. I hate, loathe and detest vaccuum cleaner bags and wouldn't have another bag type machine for all the tea in China. *cof* *cof* *cof* *sneeze* Revolting. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Suitcases are packed
Just waiting for my makeup on Monday morning. I washed my brushes this morning, instead of using handwash or shampoo I worked a lather into the bristles with L'Occitane soap and they feel sooo soft now
Boys beds remade, insert another moan about bunk beds hereGirls bedding is washing, expect another moan re: bunk beds tomorrow
Bathroom S&Sed, just keeping on top of it. Haven't been in the kitchen today but I heard DH WU earlier, suspect the sides are covered in coffee making grot but I'll sort it later when cooking dinner.
Just finished watching Rush, the film roughly based on the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda, I'm not an F1 fan but really enjoyed the movie. Highly recommended.0 -

We have triple bunks in the back bedroom at the chalet, and the sloping ceiling means that the head clearance is about 15". Not brilliant, so while I was spring cleaning it this time after I pulled the beds out to get to the corner of the room that had not had any attention for 3 years  I left them out and made that sides of both bunks up and then pushed the whole caboodle back in. It was always going to be hard work, whichever way I did it, so I'll probably do that in future, too.
Quick baking question. I'm making chocolate ginger brownies and they've just had 35 mins baking and they smell fabby. Normally I cook them until a squewer (sp?) comes out clean, but that means they're always dry. How can you tell when something that's supposed to be slightly chewy is actually cooked enough?Better is good enough.0 -
Sorry HB I've never made brownies (I would though, if you posted the recipe, pretty please?) But I'd be happy to test them for you.:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Sounds like a great idea about moving the beds, my main beef is doing the fitted sheet on DS2's top bunk as he has a waterproof protector which crumples and moves as soon as you kneel on the mattress. I'm refining my technique all the time but it still drives me to distraction.
As for brownies, You could try checking when the edges have started pulling away from the sides of the tin slightly, and also try skewering not in the centre but an inch or so from the edge; when it comes out clean there, it might still be fudgy in the centre? It's a fine art and one I have never really mastered tbh, but I don't make them often as I could eat a whole batch myself in one sitting
Mended a hole which has appeared in my cardi, it was quite large and the repair is far from invisible (darning is another skill I have never managed to crack) but it'll suffice for our hol and if it doesn't survive a trip through the WM I'll bin it then.
Dinner cooked, scoffed and I've WUDUPA. DH isn't feeling great do we've taken to bed to watch the golf and have an early night. AF has arrived almost a week early, perfect timing from the old hag  so it's ibuprofen and a HWB for me.0 -

Decluttered DGS1+2 back to DD and DSiL yesterday - we had a brilliant time with them, but I am soooooooooooo tired! Stayed overnight and spent today in or near London, visiting friends and other family members.

cleaned behind the oven, bought new water filters, spend time bleaching the blue out of DD2's hair. Went to Morribunds and got food in for tomorrow.
Bought 2 pink handbags to shake all over the carpet in an effort to get it clean(er), but trying to do at stupid oclock will only wake up the young skints, so best I go back to bed and try and get a few more hours kip.
Will be back tomorrow night to complete listy....nighty night flyladies and flygents
