Why is this thread in a Bank Accounts forum?

    A teacher started it.

This response should get the "wot you got against teacher's" brigade, and also the "what have you got against teachers" and the "what have you got against teacher's" brigade going. If I was wrong and it shut up all of them, and their permutations, that would be an unexpected but superb result. Please. In the meantime, if you are a teacher, please do focus on teaching our kids basic spelling, grammar and maths.

Why is this thread in a Bank Accounts forum?
Because teachers are special and have their wage paid in to a bank account, unlike the great unwashed.

Because teachers are too tired recuperating from a day's work to find the employment forum.

Because teachers are too busy feeling hard done to because posters who try to help must be having a dig at their working hours, holidays, job security or pension arrangements even though they said nothing of the sort.

Because it is. Right. And it's hard being a teacher. Okay. Harder and specialler than any other occupation.

I am still genuinely shocked at the attitude displayed by many in this thread, hitting out at comments that were never made. But none have seen fit to admit they did this.

Duchy, you are exactly right. I think teacher training should be much longer than a year.

I have moved my daughter from a school (she's 13) where i had absolutely no confidence in some of the teaching staff there. It was an "Academy" school.

She's now at a local High School where the the majority of the teaching staff have been there for years and the difference is huge. I really don't agree with the "hardworking teacher" phrase, it's a job, the same as mine, or anyone else's. I've had years of training for my job too, i don't feel that i work harder than anyone else. I don't feel that i need anyone's sympathy.

Trainee teachers must have plenty of time to understand what's involved before deciding to go into this profession ?
  • Anyway, to close this thread, it's all resolved, I worked the time, took unpaid leave and am thoroughly enjoying my job. It's very different pressure but having the time to process learning is hugely beneficial.

Neither was I, but reading it back I'm still quite shocked at some of the responses I got for trying to assist.

Glad it all seems to be working out for you.
