You can't twist legislation around to suit your agenda

The act makes no mention of the vehicle having to be insured in its own right, all that is needed is cover against third party risks. So I ain't twisting it. ;)

With the exception of trader policies, when your policy allows you to drive other vehicles in most (if not all) cases the policy stipulates that the vehicle must have it's own insurance. The third party cover provided by your own insurance just gives you the extra cover to be able to drive a vehicle that you otherwise would not be able to drive due to not being named on the policy, or the policy not covering any driver (something that is very expensive).

If as you seem to think, you can drive an uninsured vehicle when your policy allows you to drive any vehicle, then as soon as you get out of the vehicle it would be uninsured.

Well for the half mile the op asked about that wouldn't be an issue. ;)

Still waiting for you to point out where the road traffic act states a vehicle must be insured in its own right. But I'll be waiting until they change it because you can't.

There is no point in arguing with you, as you read into things what you want. If you think you are right then go ahead and test the law, and see what happens. Many people have been caught out because they wrongly believed the same as you.

Don't give bad advice on forums that encourages people to break the law.

Why is it bad advice other that the fact you disagree?

While you guys sort out whose knob is bigger, why not take it to the PM system.

OP: Just drive it. While not legal, I doubt the police or any one else will care if it's only a couple of miles away. The amount of cost and hassle organising another way to transport it (skateboards?) won't be worth it.

There are many Insurers who do not require the other vehicle to be insured for the DOC to be operative
