I cannot imagine how this would work if only one DD showed in my account.
Thanks for clearing that up. For the part in bold - completely as an aside and not relevant to Newcastle as I can't personally confirm or deny what you've said - my wife and I both have credit cards with the same company and both have DDs to our joint santander 123, and they appear as just one DD when looking at the list of DDs on Santander online banking. Yet they function as two DDs with different amounts taken on their different dates as per the CC statements. It looks quite confusing, as it's hard to differentiate between the two DDs at times - but that's how it works.0 -
Anybody?
I opened an account on 10th April and deposited £500. I will be able to pay in another £1000 after 24th April. Do I have to wait until May 1st or May 10th to pay that in to qualify...?
The monthly funding cycle and interest payment cycle go together. Which means, if your account was opened on 10th April and you paid in the max amount (£1250) on the date then you can make the next payment on 11th May. Ofcourse if you pay in £500 on April 10th then you can pay in any amount of money upto a max of £1250 till May 10th to be eligible for April interest.0 -

I applied and funded both accounts but not yet got any DDs setup on the LLoyds account. I've rung Newcastle and spoke to someone who seemingly doesn't know what they are talking about as they said the funding options are "Debit card (First payment only), Faster payments or Standing Order. For the last two, please make sure to use your name and reference number in the reference field.".
I thought the last bit was particularly fun as you can't fit both my name and reference number in the reference field as its 18 characters maximum!
I then asked if they don't setup DDs, then why do they need my sort code and account number, to which they replied "For any withdrawals you authorise us to make". Fair enough.0 -
When you open this, do you automatically get sent details to get onto Newcastle BS online banking?0

When opening this account has anyone else been asked to supply proof of residency? I sent my proof to the address given on 6th April, the same day as I opened the account. Last week I received the document back, saying that due to high demand it would take up to 5 days for them to confirm my residency. Since then, I've heard nothing. My partner opened an account the same day and it all went through immediately and has been given his internet banking details.
Will wait another few days then give them a call0 -
I've had a response from Newcastle about my request saying I've no idea how to setup a DD to this account. There response was "It's not possible on this account. Funding is by standing order and faster payments only.".
This appears to be correct - if I click on "Make a transaction", the only accounts I can choose for the "from" is the Newcastle accounts.
So no DDs to be had here.
Newcastle do have other accounts where DDs are possible however.0 -

You get a letter with your username on, then it doesn't accept your password and asks you to type it in all upper case, then it rejects that and asks you for memorable information to reset your password, then you can change it back to what you entered on the application form and it works the second time around. Very strange behaviour.0 -

This has just happened to me, except it said it can't change a password for a locked account. Will have to wait until Tues to phone them to activate it.FYI they also included a blank SO form. It states that your account number (which is not the reference number you're given when you open the account online) must be quote in the reference box of SO payments. Worth noting otherwise you might find payments going awry or being bounced back!

Oops. When my £1 test payment reached the account ok, I automatically made another payment using the same details. Lets see if they bounce or get lost. I shredded the SO form they sent me thinking it was useless.0
