ok , stop arguing, leave the bloody tyre in the boot then!

Apologies if you thought I was arguing. I was simply correcting your assertion that to have a bald tyre as your spare was 'illegal'.

Yes, yes it is. It must be late. I meant the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (which as replaced VOSA).

should he typically be charging for this -to change this tyre?
(as the tyre has been not provided by him)
    .

anther customer wanting something for nothing, eh?

mot's do not check spares wheels inside vehicles, if they are underneath & maybe badly cracked & perished in a very poor condition that may get an advisory.

another question if you know the vehicle will fail on a tyre heavily worn out possibly under 1.6mm why are you driving a car with defects.

    and the main question is:

should he typically be charging for this -to change this tyre?
(as the tyre has been not provided by him)
Yes, he should charge for this.

As above, three points on your licence will cost more than changing a wheel.

Sorry about the font. Not sure how to make it normal

If it is worn sufficiently to cause an offence then it is a fail

He's not arguing just correcting your mistake.

    You don't need a spare.
It is not part of the mot test
And the boot isn't opened during the test, so it won't be seen.

You will not be issued with an advisory for a defective spare.
