Play.com poor service!

Just like to complain about a recent order with Play.com. Ordered a LCD TV on a sale, the order went through ok received email acknowledgment etc. But the next day I received an email from their sales department with a request to telephone them for an additional security check. This I did and they said everything was ok and I should receive the TV in the next day or two.

Nothing arrived so I phoned their sales and I was informed that they are now out of stock and not expecting any more and suggested to cancel the order. The explanation was that the extra security check caused a delay with the order and they then ran out off stock.

I am not happy, it was not my fault but their ordering system.
I definitely will not use this company again!:mad:

and just imagine how annoyed you would be if someone used your card to purchase some goods and you didnt get your money back!
Security checks exist for a reason

yes I agree! That's not the problem
I completed the security check, the order should have been held for the additional check to be completed. It's a play.com system problem!
It' the first time I have come across this problem with many online orders.

Not really! it's the first time I have experienced this type of thing.
Play.com need to change their system!

Another complaint while I am ranting on about play.com, is that they do not have an email address or a message board to communicate with!

well it is because if they dont do it, and the card is used fraudulently, you may loose out on money
  • How is it a system problem? I understand that it must be very annoying for you, but it's nothing to do with their system. They can't put through the sale without the check. It's no-ones fault, you were just unlucky.

I carried out the correct procedure with every stage of the order, the only delays were caused by Play.com.

It is a system fault! The order should have been put into a reserve status if they wanted to carry out extra security checks.

If you think it's fair for the trader to introduce extra security checks which affects the status of the order thats your opinion! I would suggest that play.com or any other trader who carry out this type of practice to review their procedures. I for one will not trade with play.com again!

Why are people sticking up for Play? Sure, there should be security checks - but the order should be held for the customer whilst they carry them out!

    Nah,

If there was a security issue then I'd flog the tele to someone immediately if I were Mr Play.com.

A bird in the hand and all that....
  • I've just had absolutely awful service from Play.com

I ordered an X-box system and a few games on 19th April and like others received an order confirmation e-mail and then a request to call them a few days later. Additional credit check over and i was promised that the goods would be sent shortly.

The games subsequently arrived but the console system didn't. I re-accessed the site and attempted to notify them of the failed delivery but the site redirected me to a page that remnds you that it may take up to 21 days for delivery.

22 days and still no console. I re-accessed the site, notified them of the failed delivery and received an email stating that they'd re-send a replacement.

28th of this month and i receive another e-mail requesting that i again call customer service. Upon doing so my call was answered by a very rude and abusive employee named Paul who stated it 'weird' that i hadn't called earlier. He then practically accused me of lying and stealing the console!

I reminded him of his company's site which does not allow items to be marked missing until a full 21 days later and that i have followed the instructions as per their emails. His responce was to again question my honesty and to warn me that they would be investigating me!

I was subsequently refused access to his manager and he hung up on me when i informed him of my intention to make a formal complaint with both his superiors and my credit card company. His parting comment before hanging up was to state that he didn't like my attitude.

    Don't use Play.com
