.25 increase. they might go in for the kill and pounce with a .50 increase, but i doubt mervyn would get the support he needed. so .25 it is then.

Wolvoman - Voted HOLD - Surprise!

Did you vote what you think is going to happen, or what you would like?

    HOLD
I didn't realise people could see what each person voted for!

There's more chance of a 0.25% rise than a hold, but it's still possible. The MPC voted 5:4 to hold last month when CPI was at 2.8%. CPI is now at 2.5%, there are murmurings about consumer spending slowdowns, HPI is pretty much zero in all but 2 regions of the UK (excl. London and Northern Ireland), and job security confidence is at its lowest for a while.

Vested interests are now calling against a rate rise. The CBI and EEF have broadly supported the last few rises but now want rates to be held. Read between the lines of what the property parties (EAs, lenders etc.) are saying about HPI slowing down - that is a classic way of trying to talk down the market in the hope of leniency on interest rates.

I also suspect the BoE want the next interest rate rise to be the last in the cycle and they may want to keep their powder dry for this later this year.

You think the only reason he/she has posted is because he/she takes pleasure in seeing people "loose" their homes?

I've noticed lots of people think lose is spelled loose these days. Maybe I should start a poll about it.
