Holidays - So disheartening

Options
Why can I not find a decent hotel with decent reviews in a decent place for our budget. I don't want to throw over a grand for 2 of us and not have a nice hotel. Searched for weeks and it's the same old hotels with rubbish flight times too.

Yes I know having a bigger budget will get us in to a fancier hotel but it's not possible. We've spent over a year saving up for a nice week in the sun All Inclusive but it's not enough.

Are you looking during the school holidays? if so, is there any chance you can look outside this time, before they start may not help as Scottish schools will be off, but I have had some deals right at the end of the holidays (even returning the day after the schools went back)

Unfortunately we've been tied in to a 10 day window in July, before the UK schools break up but obviously it's causing massive price increases. Ideally 10th or 11th July we can fly for 7 nights.

Somewhere hot guaranteed, all inclusive from London Gatwick.

We've looked at Gran Canaria which is our fave choice but Malta was an idea at one time. Possibly Bulgaria but not Sunny Beach. Do not want to go to Turkey or Egypt.

Is there anything else in that resort, local shops/restaurants. I know we want all inclusive but want some nightlife outside of the resorts too.

Stanstead is long but could be an option if it's cheaper.

Hi we stayed at this hotel http://www.thomascook.com/destinations/spain/canary-islands/lanzarote/puerto-del-carmen/vik-san-antonio which is on the end of Los Pocillos beach, it is a lovely hotel but whilst we were there the beach was practically empty as the wind was so strong the sand was blowing in our eyes and it was generally uncomfortable so we always walked in the other direction towards the centre of Puerto del Carmen which was much more sheltered.

Our room was on the Los Pocillos beach side of the hotel and so for the whole fortnight we were there we couldnt sit on the balcony during the evening because it was cold and windy. I realise Lanzarote is the windy island and I dont want to put you off because it was actually one of my favourite holidays, theres so many interesting things to do and I cant praise the Vik San Antonio enough for its cleanliness and excellent food but am just telling it as it was.
