I hope this hasnt came from the thread I think it may have. We are all different people and that is what is so great about this forum.
I sometimes think people post a thread but only want to hear certian replies. So long as they are constructive and friendly, there should be no need for any nastiness.
I dont post too much but am logged on and look most of the day!! ( quiet at work!!) and really hope this doesnt put you off coming back!!
Most of us are friendly as you well know and I hope you miss us enough to come back!!DS Anthony Steven 07.06.92DD Becky Emma 24.01.94DD Rose Grace Jean 12.05.090 -
Sorry to hear that Csarina.
Report the PM , then put the sender on ignore - that way they can't PM you.
I have to say, I'm personally against public shaming of what people say in PMs. They're Private messages, and should remain so.
I say this as I was feeling really down one day, but hadn't said so publicly. Someone sent me a PM that in hindsight was joky, but I took it really badly. I cried for the rest of the day about it, and replied in a really testy fashion. Luckily the next day we both realised what we'd done and are now great buddies, but going public could have escalated that out of all proportion.
Keep it Private, report to abuse, and put them on ignore.

sorry to hear of your experience. Personally I don't 'do' PMs - if I get one I never even look at it. Not interested. If anyone has anything to say, I am afraid they have to come straight out and say it on the forum so that everyone can read it. Might this be a way forward?
I don't think losing them would matter, and they're clearly used in an inappropriate way.
Does anyone else feel that in general, a new level of crossness/offendedness is happening across the threads? I sometimes see a post in a thread about something practical, and am amazed by responses that are out to pick a fight.
I have found real friendliness and help here, but I now simply stop reading some threads, and wouldn't dare post!
I'm very sorry this happened to the OP. I'm sure the mods will tackle it.0 -
What a cowardly thing to do.
Report them to abuse and rise above it. Don't go just because of them.....they are not worth it."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
What is it that makes these cowards tick
Csarina I love reading your posts and it would be a damm shame if you let someone beat you. Abuse by anyone in any form is more their problem than yours and like everyone is saying - please report it then delete it.
At a wild guess I would say it will be an AE with less than 10 posts cos thats what they do hide behind a pretend name.
DONT LET THEM WIN!0 -
please dont give in to the bullies, it IS awful when people are rude and hurtful, but sometimes you need to be brave and stand up to them.......and remember,
YOU ARE NOT STANDING ALONE
look at the offers of support from this forum alone and you will see how much people appreciate you.
unfortunately there will always be other people in this world who get their kicks from upsettying or hurting others, but in the big scheme of things their Karma will bite them on the bum....maybe not today or tomorrow but someday.
Please think of all the people you are helping by staying.........and the fact you will beto the nasty pasty who upset you
*Great big hugs* and keep you chin up

Personally, I'd be sad to see PMs unavailable. Let's face it, we got told off for having *private* conversations on the daily thread some time ago:rotfl: We were told it should go to PM when it's specific between just a couple of posters.:D
PMs shouldn't be used to abuse people, but sometimes I want to offer private support to someone who's having a tough time, or just share a joke that maybe wouldn't be appropriate (or even funny!!) to everyone else.;)
I think it's sad that you don't even look at a PM. Someone may feel that you uniquely could offer them help and be asking for your advice.
Anyway, Csarina, I'd go with forward the abusive PM to abuse, put the poster on ignore, and put it behind you.You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
I have had a few and was going to give up and then got a lovely PM saying that these people are just school playground bullies and we should not let them win. Have also read a post today from Edna Bucket who has said a similar thing has happened to her and she is also giving up posting.
Has anyone considered that the people doing these nasty posts may want rid of some of the really good posters to enable them to have more control???
(The old conspiracy theory eh!)
Don't let them win you must not give in!! Either of you!!
We are all with you just think of how many people want you to stay!!0
