I am shocked, I am not a regular but have only ever seen/felt positive vibes/posts. I hope you have reported the person who PM'd you. They should go not you.

that is so sad, that you are leaving us because of one person- i hope you reported them...couldnt you block them from PMing you?.... i know that will not undo what has been said, but it seems such a shame to be driven off by one person... hope you change your mind, but if not...take care of yourself

i think you should have them publically put in the stocks. Name and shame, i would post the private msg for all to see and hope the culprit feels thoroughly ashamed, bullying will not be tolerated

Please don't be put off comming to this wonderful site because of one person. Report the private message to abuse and they'll be dealt with accordingly. I myself chat on another forum and have been doing so for nearly three years now, if I had a £2 for every time someone told me I got up their nose or that I was a *insert cussword here*, I'd be out of debt already.

Really, don't let this little episode upset you. It has come from someone who you'll likely never meet in real life and only exists to you in text form on an internet forum. Put like that, it sounds like they don't exist, doesn't it?

I hope you stay, I'm sure you'll make the right decision

The same thing has happened to me. I got a pm the other day saying that I was the kind of person that was wrong with this site and wrong with the world. Another time someone I who was being nice to me made an AE purely to send me hateful pms. There have been several other examples that I won't bore you with.

All these things are hurtful but I came to the conclusion that actually, I AM an okay person, I DON'T deserve to be treated badly and I WILL NOT let someone who says mean things to me frighten me away from here. And apart from my shocking memory, I dont' think I do anything that I shouldn't. And I don't think you have done anythign wrong either.

I strongly advise you to come back and send the pm to abuse. If you don't know how to do it, please pm me and I'll walk you through it, or even forward it on to them on your behalf if you like.

You are a valued member of this board and I don't want to lose you. x

Oh csarina, how horrible, i really do think its time people started reporting, not just to the abuse teams, but here on the forums who is nasty enough to send horrible pms. I would hate to see you stop posting, and think that if you did, you would be playing into the hands of those who have no respect for other people!!!

I can really sympathise with you too. I've had a few horrible PMs as well, and also some horrible posts about me on threads where I have posted what I thought at the time (and still think now) to be constructive comments. One poster even said (on a thread completely unrelated to child care) that she pitied my children having me as a mother! Usually when this happens, I also think what is the point in continuing to log in as it is too upsetting, but I usually get tempted back by the lure of Old Style (which is by far the friendliest board) on a read only basis and before long I'm back posting again.

You are appreciated by most of MSE - just look how high your Thanks count is, compared to the number of posts you have made! You would be really missed if you go. If you generally enjoy reading the boards, please stick with us, and maybe just decide never to read any PMs so you don't leave yourself open to this again.

sorry to hear of your experience. Personally I don't 'do' PMs - if I get one I never even look at it. Not interested. If anyone has anything to say, I am afraid they have to come straight out and say it on the forum so that everyone can read it. Might this be a way forward?

Please do report them: I'm sure you've not upset anyone. Accept that there are always idiots and they'd pobably never say it to your face. People can be nasty on forums because there's no comeback. Please stay and put it down to experience.
