Have to admit, I'm very surprised that a 53-plate BMW is starting to suffer badly from rotten brake pipes.
I'm not as they can be just as bad for rust as many others. The E46 in particular suffered with rotten front wings and on the estate boot lids.
They also eat trackrods so not surprised that the OP is seeing this time and again. Worth replacing as a pair sometimes, helps keep the car balanced and wear rates similar.
If I remember right they weren't too expensive..... [could be wrong though!]What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Even if they had both been replaced last year, the next question is what brand? Cheap rubbish may very well not last a year. OEM quality should last a lot longer.0 -
Could be worse, it could be a Ford, the suspension is made from cardboard.Be happy...;)0

I suspect the OP will have been given whatever overpriced part came from the local factors rather than OEM.
Hypothetical arguments aside though, my point on the dual swap (and the rust
) still stands. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Here's your possible price - eurocarparts - no idea on quality but i can't see the local factors stocking anything too different.
Track Rod End (Left) Part No.: 606110515
Was £35.94
Now £25.80

Summer '03 is the breakpoint between E39 and E60. 53 plate would be winter 03/04, so I'm presuming E60.
Mister-Auto is a good site for comparing various parts brands :-

FirstLine - £20
Bolk - £24
TRW - £33
Delphi - £40
Moog - £44
Lemforder - £64
Take yer pick... Lemforder is very likely the OEM supplier to BMW.0 -

In that case OP Lemforder are the ones on ECP £25 for the end as linked or they have left/right listed at £54 so looks a bit of a bargain.
Worth noting so you know what mark up you are paying OP!What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Thanks Guys. Appreciate it.
