Spent 20 mins hunting for dd1 uniform as she put it in wash Friday (my dad was here to collect her when I asked her to go check it was in the wash, so I know I hadn't gone mad) after not finding it, went to her room and pulled it out from down the side of her bed:mad:

Did all lunch boxes, must try to do these the night before!

Came back had breakfast and watched Jeremy Kyle for the first time in years.

This is DS1's trick too, I have to hunt down the side of his bed at least twice a week, otherwise he can accumulate two whole loads of washing in one fell swoop. I can't imagine sleeping next to a pile of my smelly socks (not that my feet smell, honest) but it doesn't seem to bother him at all. Better than DSD and her knickers I suppose

I HATE making sandwiches and doing lunchboxes but honestly, if you can find five mins when you're cooking dinner etc. to do them the night before, I find it makes my mornings SO much less stressful. I use that time to WUDUPA the breakfast things now and I feel as though I have hit the ground running every morning.

And we love a bit of JK here. We play Jingo (Jeremy Kyle Bingo); we have a list of 20ish of his most uttered phrases [fifty-fifty, all important lie detector results, I don't know why I bother having a stage, why didn't you put something on the end of it? etc etc] and on Monday we each pick 10 of the phrases and see how many he uses over the course of the week. I haven't managed a full house yet, DH usually wins :p

    Anyhoo... :o
  • I haven't caught up with posts previous to my last yet. So from the posts after..

    Hello babes21

Auntie Sceb, I might give Dettol a go on my bathroom mats. The cat wee's on them if you dont empty his tray quick enough and i've tried everything to get rid of the smell, so might be worth a try.

Fizzwizz, we have the same tv stand as your table, I will definatly stick to wood next time, I can see the dust settle back on it with in seconds. What hoover did you go for? We have a vax and was emptying it into the bin yesterday and the filter (that should have been clipped in) fell in the bottom of the bin. DH got it out but the clips are broke so not sure if it will work. With 7 of us, 3 labs and 2 cats, we need a good hoover.

DD has always been a lazy child, took till she was 5 to night toilet train as she would rather just lay there. I went up last week and filled a wash basket of her clothes, sent them up and told her to put them away... They are slowly spreading from the pile where she threw them on the floor and will all need rewashing. I've just emptied her bag after she has been to my dads for the weekend and there is a pair of PJ's! That's it.. no clothes/clean undies! I should really be glad as it means less washing for me:p

Pigpen, sending hugs. My dd also wants to do music for her options. Only in the last few weeks has she learnt to play 1 song on the keyboard( really well though with both hands) and the teacher has made her show every other teacher and infront of an assembly. While it has done wonders for her confidence i'm not sure it's something I want her to take for GCSE (but we have another year for her to change her mind yet).
And if it makes you feel better.. My house is a complete pit too xx

Spent an hour in kitchen (not actually finished anything to cross it off though)and put a wash on. Just had a cup of tea and will make another start before we go to fetch the shopping order. And need to sort swimming lessons. They have been having 2-1 lessons for a while and enjoyed them so finally cancelled their leisure centre lessons this term. Just received an email to say they are closing the 2-1 pool in April so now I need to find them a new lesson:mad:
Oops that post was rather large, better get back to the kitchen.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Flybump....I love it Fizzwizz :D

Well, bit by bit, I've managed the following:

    15 minutes...
    [STRIKE]Clear and wipe worksurfaces
Scrub down the front of units and large appliances[/STRIKE]
    30 minutes to spare...
Sweep and mop the floor (may only manage to sweep this but will see how I do)
    [STRIKE]Wipe and replace small appliances[/STRIKE]
    Clean [STRIKE]hob[/STRIKE]

I've also done a sheet wash & put on the line to dry before the rain sets in for the day and last nights washing up/unloaded/loaded the dishwasher. Cleaning round the Gaggia also reminded me to order some more descaler so that can be a job for later in the week when it arrives.

Not sure I'll manage the oven - I might not be able to get back up if I get down there :rotfl: so just the floor to do now.

The kitchen looks amazing - it should be easier to keep on top of now. I can already see how this works :j

I clean other people's houses for a living and just about every customer I visit has a black glass TV stand, they drive me to distraction. I have had best results with a damp microfibre cloth followed by a buff with an ecloth. It's still not perfect so I tend to just do the TV bit last and then leave the room quickly before the dust has a chance to resettle :p

This is the vac I went for (sorry, don't know how to do short links on my lappy), it gets very good reviews from people with pets -- as it should, with its name! -- and it seemed like good VFM compared with a mid range Dyson at £100 more. There are 7 of us too but no pets here, well the hamsters don't shed all that much anyway! We have cream carpets throughout and I am forever vacuuming; so far so good, it is quite heavy but compact and the handle retracts so it's easy for me to store in the airing cuboard.

charlieyates my sister had a similar problem - her male cat had been done but another cat seemed to be spraying and the smell got in her porch. Zoflora helped a bit. For the denim I put a cap full of dettol in wash tray and ran it as hot as I could. - I think this also counts as running the WM on a wash cycle!

When I take packed lunch for work I make two days worth the night before. I find if I'm making one I might as well make two and it's fine by the second day.

FizzWhizz I'm very interested in your vacuum reviews. I've been considering buying a Dyson cordless but expensive! - I had one before (old relationship) I liked it because it was light weight and worked but I'm not sure how it performed over time. I've got a tiny Dirt Devil - useless. I'be been looking at the one you just got but I would have to pay cash for it rather than put it on a catalogue.
