For over an hour, I used my tablet and no pop-up message. I decided to use every link ie the items that had come across from laptop to tablet as a result of it being synced. As I proceeded, I must have touched on the offending item as the pop-up appeared.

My theory now is this, given that hundreds of people have experienced this problem, and that is, something being brought across at time of syncing, doesn't manifest itself until used on the tablet.

My daughter-in-law has no other internet facility other than the identical tablet, so anything she has on it, is of her own choosing. She hasn't experienced the pop-up.

So, if someone would explain to me, how I could STOP syncing, then do a factory reset (again), so when the tablet reverts back to how it left the factory with the installed apps, it should be fine.

It has been stated that MY installed apps were not the cause, so it HAS to be something which for whatever reason is not compatible when synced. (imo).

OK so far ?. So the websites that I enjoy on my laptop, instead of them coming over (synced), I would install one by one on tablet from search engine, noting as we go, if any one of them presented a problem.

An hour in the shed presents itself. Time to think. Perhaps if anyone feels I may be on to something, then perhaps you will offer your fourpennorth please.

OK to unsync your contacts try this (I don't have a Galaxy Tab).
    Menu
    Settings
    Accounts a Sync
    Manage Account
Google Account - Contacts - untick Sync.
try clearing the contacts data as per post 26 then reboot (Not restore) and see if the message is still there.

Depending on how long you've had it, you could return it to Argos and tell them it's unusable, they may change it.

Hi, you say "unsync contacts", but I feel there should be no syncing between laptop and tablet. Currently any favourites (I use chrome) come over to tablet automatically and it is THIS that I feel is the issue.

Anyway, via settings, in accounts I have dropbox/google/+add account

Now I have done Settings --> apps --> All --> Contacts Storage --> clear data and Force stop. Reboot

Bought early Dec, from PC World

It's not syncing with your laptop. It's syncing with the Google Servers (Dropbox syncs with it's servers) where they keep your contacts and all your other account information.
Sorry about the Argos bit, got confused with someone else. You could try asking PC world to fix it, but, don't hold out much hope, they will make excuses and refer you to Samsung probably.
    Did it work this time?

Is there any way you can elaborate on your five words please? I have entered settings so many times looking for sync on/off to no avail.

On my Nexus 4 it is ...

Double-finger swipe down to show the menu
    Select the Settings option
    Select the Data Usage option
Press the 3-dots to show the menu
Tick/Untick the Auto-sync data option as required

You said you had Dropbox and google accounts in the settings.
Did you look in the accounts and Sync options?
    Menu
    Settings
    Account and Sync options
    Manage Accounts
    Google Account
    Contacts
    un-tick Sync.

If it's not there join the Galaxy Tab forum...Click Here and ask for assistance there..

    UPDATE

I have been of the opinion that it wasn't an app that brought this about in view of the fact that I've only installed about half a dozen.

My gut feeling is that when any of my favourites came across via syncing, that's when I had a problem. That assumption was based on the fact that a known identical tablet which is NOT synced, hasn't this issue.

What I had forgotten about is when I have swiped the screen and unlocked it, if I draw is down, there is a sideways running bar along the top, and among about 20 headings, is "sync" and arrows pointing in opposite directions. Sync was lit, I swiped to unsync, which greyed it out.

Then I sat and individually removed every saved website that had been brought in via syncing from laptop.

With the tablet empty of everything other than three apps introduced hours ago, I then googled the sites I want, many of which I had before, but now saved directly.

With a very low battery now charging, I am optimistic once again. What I do know is that IF I have resolved this, then I will be more than happy.

As for the link to the Galaxy Forum, I have been part of that for months and have to say, in my opinion, it's not that user friendly. I don't like being constantly referred here there and everywhere, I don't like short sharp answers, I don't like the way the mods address those of us who take longer to take on board explanations. To be honest, I find androidcentral.com much better.

As for dropbox, I haven't touched that today. Let's wait and see how this goes first please. No doubt the saga will continue.

    unfortunately process, android.process.acore has stopped

its a fairly common problem often after a fail to wipe before flashing a rom.
Indications are that its corrupt or long name data that fails when syncing Facebook GMail etc .
