DONE but cheated on you, as it wasn't working, I googled and found

    http://support.sprint.com/support/tutorial/Perform_a_hardware_factory_reset_Samsung_Galaxy_Tabreg_3/49933-396

and now I have to decide which I want back on screen.be back soon.
It's the result that counts, not necessarily the method...:D
I guess you mean to decide what apps you want back on the screen...
Hope it all works for you.

Yes, my unfortunate choice of words. Banished er indoors to other room so that I could concentrate (lol)

I have only reintroduced a couple of apps. The fact that the tablet is synced to my laptop means anything I am like to use, is easily accessible. I can't tell you how pleased I am, your help and me being adventurous . I don't have anyone to help me, so I need to be sure that when I embark on something new, I have to be completely sure of what I am doing and how to reverse if it goes wrong. Thanks to each of you that helped.

It might be that I need your help again soon. I bought a vodafone mifi from Argos but couldn't set it up. Vodafone wouldn't help because I bought it elsewhere and the months data expired.

Ovivo have a sim that they charge £20 for, and that gives a set amount of data monthly for no extra cost. BUT, how should I proceed? do I remove the old sim in the hope anything installed is removed with it, then after purchasing the Ovivo sim, I will need to be guided. Flippin eck, just tried their website and they've folded up, What now?

THE POP UP IS BACK! Despite all we've been through, it's sending that notifier through. My initial thoughts are to do a reset again tomorrow and not include the few apps I have. Thoughts please.

Aghhh! back to the drawing board..
I'm not sure it's the Apps.
Have a look at the giffgaff website. They do data only sims. I think the top one is £12.50 for 3Gb of data. Of course it depends on how much you are going to use it 3Gb might not be enough for you. Plenty of others around I think 3 do a 10GB one for £15.
Surely Vodafone would have helped had you topped up the existing Sim?
I don't have a MiFi but I'm sure you just swap out the Sims and register with the new provider.

OK disable sync with your google account
Then try the contacts clear again.....Settings --> apps --> All --> Contacts Storage --> clear data and Force stop. Reboot and re-enable your google account.
I admit I'm running out of ideas here..

Don't give up yet, please. Surfing in bed early. When I'm up, will follow through again, but, so far...............

as for mifi, it will only get used on five hr rail journeys every couple of months.

PS the popup appeared on start up, I surfed 45mins clear, then as I began to close down, it popped up. So, start up &close down.

sebastianj. thanks to you I have found your thread more than interesting, so much so that I appear to have taken it over, which was not my intention. Have you solved the problem ? and if so, was it due to the advice here?. If you haven't, I was wondering if your tablet was new enough to be returned as faulty?. Give us an up-date please..

When I posted post 24, at the time, I didn't realise the pop-up was start up only and as such, omitted to mention it. It was only after today's surfing (post 27) that the start up/close down showing occurred to me.

As for your post 26, I'm quite prepared to follow that through, but thought I'd wait for you to read the posts since to see if it has any bearing on your advice.

I have been reading posts on androidcentral and noted one success story. This is what they suggested and I've done:-

Settings>Apps>All> scroll down to google account then click > there will be perhaps a dozen google related headings. Click each one in turn and clear data

Just did a few minutes surfing and ????????????

I suppose it's a case now of using the tablet frequently today hoping it has been sorted. Keep looking and keep your fingers crossed, and no, I haven't forgotten your 10.35 post rumrat.

PS, gave it half an hour, logged into tablet > gmail > clicked on photo which started download >up pops message !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rumrat, from your post, I did this:-

.Settings --> apps --> All --> Contacts Storage --> clear data and Force stop. Reboot

then went to gmail, clicked on the same photo and the pop-up didn't come. I had copied the exact same route. Dare I say anything else?.

I didn't know how to disable sync with google account.
