Does a Bat Signal go off in your bedroom when someone criticises CG? :rotfl:

You'll see i did make the same analogy - you dont negotiate with Tescos so why should a car supermarket negotiate on price so i guess its fair enough

And i did wish the O/P all the best with their new car - glad they got a car they are happy with - good cars Civics. My sons stuck two years of hard abuse!

We looked at a 2.2 cdti Civic and a 1.7cdti Civic (last of old shape) when we bought the Clio.

Both were high miles. The 2.2 slightly higher miles.

I was surprised at the amount of wear on the painted interior parts and wear on the door panels on the new shape one.

Old shape one was like a new car. But the wife didn't like the way it looked.

After these issues i don't think the OP will have many problems.

I also never go for the extra warranties or paint and body treatments.

I understand the salesman is just trying to make a few quid.

I went to look at cargiant once with a mate who considered using them.

The stock is all in average at best condition, the prices aren't amazing and the nonsense you have to sit through just to buy a car is a pain - the sales office was literally full of dead eyed customers sat watching videos on the salesmans computer.

The main thing it's got going for it is the convenience factor - if that's really important to you it's probably a good shout.

And it's really weird how vehemently bigjl defends the place every time they get mentioned, you've got to wonder what his deal is. I'm surprised he hasn't mentioned methyr motor auctions yet.

Because petty little people like you get on my wick.

And as this is MSE buying elsewhere could result in spending more money than needed.

And i seriously doubt you have ever been there to be honest.

Just wondering have you ever actually given advice on here?

Or do you prefer to snipe and winge like a little child.

You seriously doubt I've ever been to an easily accessible car supermarket less than 5 miles away from where I live? How odd.

It's also not that cheap for the quality of car they stock, which makes me wonder when you last went there.

Your unequivocal defence of a typical pile-em-high car supermarket is very strange, without reason and bordering on obsessive. Throwing your toys out the pram and calling me a child won't change that.

Blah, blah, blah de blah de blah. La blah de blah de blah......

But i will mention when we got our Clio, approx £2000 cheaper than an identical one at Renault London the only mark on the car was a tiny scuff on the rear bumper.

When my BiL bought his Vectra it was in showroom condition. To be expected when a three year old car has only 15k miles on it though.

And i was there last month as we are trading the Clio in soon and wanted to see what was around in the budget.

    Uh huh.

I'm sure that all happened and was in no way made up to corroborate your bizarre cargiant spamming.

I like CarGiant. Sometimes it's a nice place to while away a couple of hours looking at cars you may not consider. If I finish work and have to pick my parents up at Heathrow then I normally drive over for a nosey.

The cars are on the whole in reasonable condition. However you do get a large % of mongrels there. And they tend to pick up a lot of the scruffier ex-Motability cars with panel and interior damage from crutches and wheelchairs.

Sometimes the best bit about the cars is the unmolested condition. Kerbed wheels, used ashtrays etc show how the car has really been treated and not masked by a cheap £20 smart repair.

The sales procedure is a faff but I like being able to handover my car keys and spend as long as I want inspecting the car.

Test drives are crap - up the road to the industrial estate and back again. If you are serious the salesman will let you drive it a few times.

A lot of people say that prices are non-negotiable but I've seen and heard plenty of people haggling and getting something off.

Summarises my thinking on them. Certainly worth a look, but i havent seen prices that make me think they're £££'s cheaper than better prepared cars from other / main dealers.

I bought a car from Car Giant, never again. Soon after purchase, the car required a new turbo which cost me £2,000 in repairs. I traded the car in elsewhere after 6 months of ownership.

It is better to buy from a place where you can take the car back if there is a major problem.
