OP wouldn't know an actual Russian if Putin walked in the jobcentre himself. I don't think she's running for foreign secretary jobs, or any jobs where an ounce of diplomacy is required.

I think OP was just using this as a figure of speech. What she probably saw was a group of foreigners and immediately jumped to the conclusion that they had only been here 5 minutes but entitled to money whilst she isn't!!!

What the OP doesn't realise is that the chances are these people have probably lived in this country all their life/many years and have also contributed far more to the State and economy by paying their taxes and national insurance than the OP has!!

And now OP will thank you for your valued imput!
  • MEEEEOWWWWW. Come on here for some advice and get attacked. I've had my esa claim refused and I can't claim JSA because my oh works more than 24 hours a week. I was on IB before claiming esa and we cannot claim anything at all.

    Attacked? No?

Come on here spouting ignorance and racism then expect to be called on it. Also claiming you get no state help, unlike those pesky foreigners, when in fact you are on benefits yourself.

If your partner earns above the threshold that the government claims you need to live on, then you will not be entitled.

You say you cannot claim anything, are you getting working tax credits, council tax help, housing benefit help, child benefit/tax credits if you have children?

You can apply for your record of your NI contributions. The Job Centre does make mistakes about NI contributions so it may be worth checking.

You cannot get a record of the current or the previous tax year so it may be worth waiting until the end of this tax year (April 5) so that you can get the correct year.

See here how to apply online.

Our girls are adults and don't live at home, they rent their homes. I've been unable to work for the last 8 years due to permanent spine damage. I can't get a job because of "health and safety" rules. We cannot claim any help for anything but at least I can get free prescriptions now that I'm over 60.

As far as the foreigners are concerned well I have my opinions but I'm not going to say what they are!

You have to pay enough NI in the 2 relevant tax years. I'm not sure which those are, but the JC should tell you.

When I claimed JSA, after eldest was born, I had to say I was looking for f-time work, but when I found part-time work instead, I came off JSA. They didn't say there was a problem with me taking part-time work even with the agreement saying I was looking for f-time.

If you can't find anything or aren't entitled to anything, what about agency work? I've done agency work (admin) twice and on both occasions eventually been employed directly by the employer of my placement. If you've got the childcare to cope with ad-hoc hours then give it a try.

Happy Birthday to your dd for tomorrow. It's my daughter's birthday too, she'll be 11. :bdaycake:

I have just been looking around the HMRC website and it says you get NI Credits when you claim child benefit (and I do). So now I'm totally confused!

NI Credits will count towards your State Pension but they do not count towards contributary benefits such as ESA. It would mean that you don't need to sign on solely for credits though.
