Oh that's a shame :( no jumping through hoops though. Can you get any other benefits and cut spending while looking for job?

I'm not sure if I'm entitled to anything because of the quoted text below. When I was at the JC as well, there were a load of what sounded like Russians there who have probably been in the country for 5 mins and will get payment, whereas I was born here, worked here with no significant work breaks and get sweet fanny adams!

I have recently switched the household insurance which saved heaps, as my renewal premium was ridiculous. I will have to post up an SOA. Was going to do one about a month ago, but then I got made redundant and my mind was on other things!

The OP needs to sign on for NI credits towards future pension.

The advisor at the JC said I could pay NI contributions privately, but don't know how I do that.

I have no problem with signing on if it means it secures my pension and all of that, but do I still have to go through all the rigmarole of proving I'm looking for work, even though they're not paying me anything?

You have to fulfill the same terms re looking for work, signing on etc even if only getting NI credits and no money.

Thanks for your non-advice marliepanda. FYI it's not my fault I don't have enough NI contributions because I've been made redundant as I've probably not been in my last job long enough and I do want to work so keep your opinions to yourself.

Can anyone advise me as to what my next step is please?

Has your OH checked whether they can claim additional WTC/CTC etc on www.turn2us.org.uk based on the lower family income?

You started with your ignorance about 'Russians' being in the country five minutes.

It's based on two tax years, and the amount isn't huge. You didn't pay in so you can't take out.
