Nice to see a bit of ignorance kicking about. I bet they were looking for full time work (unlike you) also perhaps when they get a job they'll pay enough tax and NI to qualify for contribution based JSA (unlike you) and they also might not moan about it interfering with them picking up on kids (unlike you)

And I'll bet they weren't Russians either, who would not be entitled to a penny in benefits ;)

Can you apply for help with rent and council tax and child tax credit.... These depend on income though

We don't pay rent as our house is mortgaged. We already claim child tax credit, not sure if we would get help with council tax as OH probably earns too much.

I have just been looking around the HMRC website and it says you get NI Credits when you claim child benefit (and I do). So now I'm totally confused!

The OP needs to sign on for NI credits towards future pension.

I thought you didn't have to do that if you were in receipt of child benefit, or am I wrong?.

I've just read the link and it says up until your youngest child is 12 and she turns 10 on Monday.

I am going to get in touch with the NI people and find out what's going on rather than just speculating.

Child tax credits, child benefit, mortgage rate artificially protected from the free market. So entitled to quite a lot. And the 'Russians' are likely to have done more work in that 5 minutes than you have over two years if you do not qualify for contributions-based JSA.

I'm not sure if I'm entitled to anything because of the quoted text below. When I was at the JC as well, there were a load of what sounded like Russians there who have probably been in the country for 5 mins and will get payment, whereas I was born here, worked here with no significant work breaks and get sweet fanny adams!

I have recently switched the household insurance which saved heaps, as my renewal premium was ridiculous. I will have to post up an SOA. Was going to do one about a month ago, but then I got made redundant and my mind was on other things!
Russian Citizens cannot get benefits being here for 5 minutes. If you know any Russians, or any other non EU citizens claiming benefits without having ILR you should report them.
