We've just replaced an old Hoover dishwasher with a Bosch and very pleased with it, so quiet you can barely hear it and has a top cutlery drawer as opposed to bottom basket, took a little getting used to but actually prefer it now. It's actually a Siemens machine with Bosch badging. Until end of April Bosch are doing up to £100 cashback on selected models.

our integrated smeg (not cheap), gave up the ghost after 7 years service (actually went bang and caught alight underneath) so lesson learned there not to put it on as we go out to work or bed, which is what we used to do.
replaced it with an integrated bosch. very quiet by comparison. an eco wash takes 3hours 15 mins (not sure if thats allowing for drying time also). it has a digital display showing length of program left. so far so good.

    Hi,

We are also a family of 6, when our Bosch gave up the ghost we replaced with a Siemens... Very impressed around 3/4years old and no problems at all, had a 5 year warrenty as standard and the interior is well thought out with a cutlery shelf rather than a basket which means more room for plates (or large pans/dishes!) Extreamly quiet and lots of wash options. Our dishwasher normally runs twice a day... but sometimes more :o

I also replaced a Bosch washing machine with Siemens and Hotpoint tumble dryer (how come appiances always break one after the other?!)
Do you mean to say that they still don't all come with cutlery trays? lol I thought that it was standard now because my Miele purchased 8 years ago, has a cutlery tray and I just took it for granted. Remembering way back................My previous dishwasher did not, it had a basket.

I only ever use the quick wash which works well for most things unless they have caked on/burn on dirt. A quick wash takes about 48 mins. It can vary between about 46/47 to 50/51 depending upon the dirt that it senses. The other programmes take a lot longer, a couple take just short on 2 hours and the Energy saver and pots and pans closer to 3 hours. Pre wash programme is 12 mins.

Our Bosch washing machine has worked perfectly for 17 years.

I have a John Lewis slimline one which is now 18 months old. Has worked fine so far. I only use the quick and economy 50 programmes which take 30 mins and 70 mins respectively.

I'm looking at dishwashers at the moment.
One thing I have noticed is that on some machines they have what appears to be a 'Aqua stop' solenoid at the top of the water pipe near where you fix it to your water supply and it's a bit bulky, so if your water valve is under the sink and tight for space, this could pose a problem.

My dishwasher is an integrated Neff and it's 20 years old and still working perfectly.

I have just discovered Fairy dishwasher tablets. I was persuaded to try them because of the positive 'Which' performance ratings.

Glasses were looking a bit jaded and the cutlery was looking waaaaay past its best. All I can say is WOW, changing to the Fairy tablets is giving amazing results. Glasses and cutlery are sparkling like they are brand new.

I know it's (Fairy) expensive but I think it's worth it.

I never put the dishwasher on, the washing machine on or the tumble dryer on unless I'm around. I would never risk putting them on when I go to bed or if I'm going out. I don't want to risk a house fire.;)

Bosch/Siemens/Neff have the same parent company (BSH Group GmbH) and their white goods are all built in the same factories with just cosmetic changes. All tend to come out similarly high up in Which? reliability surveys.

Thanks to all for your help.

Having read the comments, I have gone for a miele g4210. Hopefully this gives me many years of clean and sparkling dishes.i will post back with reviews once it is installed etc.it has a two year guarantee for now so will see how the washer runs before i think about extending the cover.

I would try fairy dishwasher tablets but have a load of finish ones left from my last big bulk purchase.

Are you aware of the £50 cashback available on purchases upto 31st March?
