Best brand of dishwasher to buy??

I have just been told that a new dishwasher will be provided to me as a replacement for my HOTPOINT FDW60 which pretty frankly was a nightmare. I have had constant problems with it and it always seemed to be breaking down. It will be used daily for a family of 6.

Does anyone recommend and particular brand of dishwasher as I ceertainly will not be choosing Hotpoint again?

Thanks in advance for your help.

We've always gone with Bosch. The current one has been going strong for well over 7 years with no issues.

  • We have a Bosch, 11 months old and have just had to call the out as it has gone wrong. Rang yesterday and they are sending an engineer out tomorrow. After sales therefore seems good, much better than Meile who we had real problems with a couple of years ago. Will update tomorrow if anything useful to add.

Our Bosch washing machine has worked perfectly for 17 years.

If it's 'free', ask for a Miele-but don't be offended if they refuse!

    Thanks all for your advice.

I have looked into getting a Bosch or Miele and judging by the comments, both would be a much better option than my previous one :-)

They have offered me a generous amount so looks like the Bosch may be the suitable choice as Miele is a bit too expensive for me.

My Miele is 8 years old and still going strong. It had a 5 year warranty which passed with no reason to use it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    We have a Miele.
its fabulous. Just before recommending I got up to check it was running, I wasn't sure as I couldn't hear it, despite being in the same room as it, though I do have the radio on, not too loudly. We can have friends for supper in the room with it on as it runs so quietly. Only down side? The was programme on ours takes quite a long time I think. But its very efficient.

Hate my Bosch. Had it 3 years and it's been OK in that it's not broken down - but it takes forever to do even a quick wash. (Hours for an Eco or Normal)....... My old Proline which I'd had for over 10 years with no breakdowns was far superior and much much quicker.
  • Hi,

We are also a family of 6, when our Bosch gave up the ghost we replaced with a Siemens... Very impressed around 3/4years old and no problems at all, had a 5 year warrenty as standard and the interior is well thought out with a cutlery shelf rather than a basket which means more room for plates (or large pans/dishes!) Extreamly quiet and lots of wash options. Our dishwasher normally runs twice a day... but sometimes more :o

I also replaced a Bosch washing machine with Siemens and Hotpoint tumble dryer (how come appiances always break one after the other?!)
