Boots are offering half price premiums for pruhealth till the 27th. Boots always quoted cheeper than pruhealth proper. So does anyone know, are the prices boots quote before or after the half price? The price don't seem that much different than before
The quote boots give you is including the discount.
i recently signed up with boots and was quoted £12.50 a month, compared to prus £21.84, plus you get 2000 advantage card point with boots, which is worth £20.0 -
I would not recommend virgin gyms to anyone. the facilities are great, but when we tried to leave they were a complete nightmare.
staff gave us wrong info about dates for ending our contract. would not accept that we were moving out of area and were extremely unhelpful. eventually they sent a debt agency after us to pay for not using the gym which we had tried to leave in accordance with the instructions given by the desk staff (it's a long story......)
Read the small print, read it again, this is all they will tell you..:mad:0 -
I've signed up for PruHealth and am waiting for my welcome pack. If I signed up last Thursday and the cover is due to start this Saturday, does anybody know when I'm likely to receive the pack so I can go and join Cannons?
I've seen a few posts earlier on this thread about long waits but what sort of timescale is typical? (I've had the letter to say my direct debit's been set up.)Operation Get in Shape

Can you tell me what the outcome was. I am going through the exact same thing with Virgin Active right now. They want me to pay over £800 in oustanding fees as I cancelled my membership after my first year and not before the end of the first year. They are also stating that I MUST rejoin and continue paying them monthyl even though I do not want to be a member any longer.
When are the Outstanding fees from? Are they from your first year or have they built up due to an unprocessed cancellation? Did you just cancel the DD with the bank or did you send them a cancellation letter?
All of these gyms seem to have very strict cancellation procedures - I know LA Fitness insist you give them 30 days notice of cancellation. When I do it, they're going to get phonecalls, emails and recorded delivery letters to make sure that they've cancelled it and I'll want it in writing as well, so that if they do come back with this kind of rubbish I'll happily tell them to waste their time taking me to court :rotfl:0 -

They were quite prompt with my pack if I remember correctly, but all you should need is your Pru Health membership number and some ID.
I joined LA Fitness so not sure what the procedure is at Cannons - why not give Pru a call and go through to their Vitality dept? They'll tell you exactly what you need to do and I would guess that you won't need your membership pack beforehand0 -

How can you do that, you'd need your card. Unless they give you your ID over the phone??
I signed up via boots on Tues. Got my pack Thursday morning but haven't rang them yet to set up the gym thing. What happens between now and me doing my induction?
Also I haven't recieved my advantage card, I assumed they'd send it out since I ticked the "not currently a member" box on the online form.
Has anyone done a boots health check? Is it while you wait or do you have to go in and book an appointment?
I was surprised at some of the discounts you can get if you're a platinum member. I don't think anyone has mentioned it but you can get a basic health screen for £5 (RRP £60) and a full one for £25 (RRP £300+). Not to mention some pretty cheap rooms at Champneys which would make a nice break for a couple.
Also I don't remember anyone mentioning that points can be carried forward each time you renew. If you get 2000 vitality points at the end of the year, you start year 2 with 200 points (10%), 300 the next year (15%), then 400 (200%) and then 500 every year after (25%). That will make it much easier to reach platinum status.
The other thing I should mention is that you can only earn 1500 from exercising which equates to 150 visits a year to your gym, just under 3 times a week. If you use fitbug, you can get 10 points for 12,500 steps so you should be able to skip the gym if you do a fair bit of walking each day. Sadly you can't go over 1500 combined though, but like I say it gives you an alternative to the gym.
BTW fitbug is £15 for the first year, do Pruhealth members get a discount after that or do they have to pay the full costs?0 -
I still haven't had my pack, but I phoned them today and have been given my membership number which I'm told I can tell Cannons and they'll sign me up :T

You don't pay any subscriptions to fitbug after the first year, but you probably should reckon on buying a new fitbug each year. Both me and my partner have fitbugs, and they both broke after about a year, one just within warranty replaced free, and one just outside which costs £30.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Thanks for the advice Andymac - I got onto the Pru on Friday for my membership number, and joined Cannons on Saturday :T
They are lovely there, they made me feel like a proper customer - unlike the experiences people seem to have had with LA Fitness. The girl who sits next to me at work has been trying to join LA Fitness through PruHealth and has said, like so many on this thread, that LA staff have become rude and uncooperative as soon as she's mentioned that she's a PruHealth customer rather than one of their own  :mad:Operation Get in Shape

I paid the activation charge for LA Fitness and went down to the gym yesterday to fully register.
I told the salesman i am not meant to give any bank details over, which he agreed , BUT he said i do still need to sign the gym contract, as the one online is not the contract?
i guess this contract is just to do with the 12 months terms, and no financial details?
Is this true, do you need to sign a gym contract when u register in the gym??
i am booked to go in and sign the details tomorrow.0
