    Good morning all

Nice sunny day here. Off to do some sorting in prop 2 today, work starts on the new kitchen tomorrow. Getting there.

I shall get filthy so no point in getting glammed up this morning, we'll save that for later in the day. A nice longer pamper will be scheduled for this evening.

Sounds like you are all having fun with the wardrobe sorting.

I would love to be "Gokked" but agree would hate to have to appear on TV.

Speaking of Gok, Sainsbury's have 25% off their Tu clothing next week - think it starts Tuesday?? I will take a look at t-shirts, vest tops etc. I find they wash better than those from Asda.

I'm with you on the V-necked tops. When I spot fine knit V-neck sweaters I pounce and buy them in a range of colours.

BTW - if anyone is interested B&Q are doing their 3 for 2 deal on paint. I shall stock up this week, reading for the decorating marathon…..

    Have a good week X

I'm a regular lurker but I'm behind a bit and just found your post Kiwisaver. Its so true that being around people who talk about caring for themselves is a big spur. I've been battling depression for a few years and only recently finding myself again. This thread has helped me so much; I just treated myself to some pretty coloured shoes, a real change from the navy/brown/black I usually wear. I'm sorting out my earrings and other jewellery to wear again and about to try the oil cleansing method as my skin is so dull. Thanks to everyone who post for the encouragement and inspiration. :T

Loving the wardrobe ideas and thanks for the links betty.

It's a lovely day here and I've decided I'm not going to be wearing boring, work-type black trousers ever again. So I've taken the three remaining pairs from the wardrobe and they were so dusty:eek: I've washed them before sending to CS. Then I'm going to have a general prune of wardrobe.

So I'll be wearing jeans and may look for some smart trousers (perhaps a pair of chinos for summer?) and the skirts and dresses that I'm much happier in when I'm dressed up.

Good to see you posting rosie. I like the sound of your shoes. Are they heels or pumps?

    Hi folks

No fabbing for me today as been out pounding the pavements in training for the MoonWalk this June. But that helps keep the weight off, and I'll have a lovely long Lush bath later. Need to mow the grass first - shan't dignify it and call it a lawn :rotfl:
Wore my new linen trousers yesterday, v comfy and smart with brogues and a nice jacket, felt good :) Took Mum to see The Mousetrap for her birthday - she's only been waiting 60 years :rotfl:

Re: v-neck jumpers, Uniqlo had some last time I was there, in merino wool. I bought 2, they always have such lovely colours. They've shrunk a little I think as they're quite a snug fit now 😞

Sounds like some really good fabbing going on, Rummer I'm impressed you can even think about fabbing with a baby, much less actually manage to do it! Good on you!

Just popping in to update you on my shopping...
I found an Autonomy outlet locally, and bought 2 x dress & jacket suits and a dress/skirt/trousers/ jacket suit. Cost me £120 for them all as all but 2 were 20% off marked price and the other 2 had 10% off. Then I found 2 wrap-type tops in the Next outlet, some very nice lace trim t-shirts in H&M, 3 chiffon shirts in Primark and some new shoes tights & skintone cami tops in M&S. With the bits I already had, I now have a good 2-week working wardrobe that will last me some time (as I won't be wearing just 2 or 3 things to a shabby death!) and can be confident I will always look smart.

Nails eyebrow & leg wax due on Tuesday, am just about to potter for an hour before an early night.

Hi maman, they're all flat ballerina pumps, a style that suits me and my bunion :D I still drool over fab high heels but my balance problems mean I'd just fall off :)

Oh ladies, could I ask a question please?
I go to the hairdressers and have my hair cut and coloured but thats all I do.
Many moons ago whilst waiting for my hair dye to work its magic I used to have my eyebrows done at the same time, but I have since changed my hairdressers and the eyebrow service is not offered.
Can i just go into a beauty place and get my eyebrows done? I would also love to have some tints on my eye lashes as I rarely wear mascara.
Also I have never had my nails done and they are chewed down to the tips.

How much would all this cost?

Also are there any other quick fixes I could think about?

Getting your eyebrows done would lift your whole face and I really feel much better when mine are done:) I also get my eyelashes tinted every month too I feel the two together make a real difference.

I get my eyebrows waxed. Eyelashes tinted and the shall not be named parts waxed for £20 every 4 weeks or so.

I also use baby oil on my skin then once that has soaked in a bit I add a layer of baby oil gel both Johnson and Johnson I get th from £1 store and makes a big difference to how moisturised my skin is. I do this 2-3 times a week and normal moisturiser in between times.

Painting my toes nails always cheers me up too :)

    Hi JIL.

    Re the nails.

You can of course go for gel nails/false nails etc but tbh I'm not really in favour. They aren't too bad for special occasions but I would not recommend them for long term use. They can cause damage to the nail bed and they can weaken the nails.

I would advise you take the long view and go for a more permanent solution.

You would be better to stop biting your nails (I know that's easier said than done;) and then look at improving overall nail health.

My husband was a shocking nail biter. When I did my beauty training I needed volunteers to practice my manicures on. I "volunteered" him. I worked on his nails each day for about 10 mins - within a few weeks they started to grow back and he stopped nibbling them.

Here's a little action plan for you. You might need to buy a nail kit, a buffer and a few products.

    1. Soak the nails in a little warm water to soften the cuticles and nails.

    2. Trim any jagged cuticles and gently file what is left of your nails. Be sure to use an emery board, not a metal file and file in one direction only. Do not "saw" the nail back and forth - you are not sawing wood…..The aim is to ensure that there are no jagged or ragged bits that you might be tempted to pick or nibble.

    3. Gently buff the nails using a soft buffing pad. This will stimulate blood flow, feeding nutrients to the nail. It will also give the nail a nice sheen.

    4. Massage a vitamin enriched cream or gel into the nail.

    5. Finish with a good quality hand cream. Don't just slap it on - try and spend a few minutes massaging the hand - taking the time to massage each finger separately. Again this will stimulate blood floor to the end of the finger tips.

    6. Wear rubber gloves for washing up etc.

    7. Wear padded gardening type gloves for any "rough" diy jobs.

If you do this each day you should see quite a difference in a few weeks.

You could also "paint" the nails with a strengthener as they start to grow.

Sally Hanson do a range of nail products, vitamin gels, hardeners etc. They are reasonably priced.

If you are a subconscious "nail biter" i.e. you don't realise you are doing it, then ask someone to be your "monitor" and get them to tell you when you are nibbling.

If you nibble when watching TV etc then perhaps doing an activity with your hands might help, sewing or knitting or something arty/crafty to keep your hands occupied.

Once the nails have grown a little then painting them in a pretty pale pearl pink should make them look nice without drawing too much attention to them.

Once they do start to grow then keep them fairly short for a few months until they have chance to get hard and strong.

Watch your diet and try to make sure you are getting enough calcium - good for teeth and bones as well as your nails. ;)
