Undersized mattress

I ordered a king size mattress from Laura Ashley after Xmas. When it was delivered last week it measured exactly 145cm instead of 150cm. When I complained they asked me to send photos which I did. The photos clearly show that the widest part is 145cm which was acknowledged by customer services. I was told that they would source another mattress and discuss appropriate compensation when I was satisfied with it. Now they have told me that the measurements have not been taken from the widest part (!) and that any discrepancy in size is 'within their tolerances'! They are prepared to send me a £50 gift card or collect and refund. This is unacceptable, bearing in mind the aggravation and inconvenience they have caused. BTW they also delivered 2 hours late on the Saturday (6pm).
If they are selling undersized mattresses which are advertised at 150cm, I do not feel that they should be allowed to do this. Presumably they are continuing to sell items which are not as described?

They have been more than generous with their offer of £50 gift card or collect and refund. What more do you actually want them to do?
5cm in terms of a mattress is a tiny amount and it will spread as it gets used and settles anyway so in six months time will probably be 150cm.0 -
I already have one of their mattresses. It was the correct size when bought and is exactly the same size 5 years later.
5cm is a big deal as we now have a big gap in the bed frame.
I doubt very much that you would accept this in a special order product.0 -
You are not entitled to anymore than they have offered you...
While i understand it is annoying what more can they do?0 -
OP, why have you posted this a second time?
I guess you weren't you getting the answers you wanted from your earlier post.0 -
they have given a fair offer here, take the £50 or get them to pick up the mattress.0

It's not an Ikea bed by any chance is it?Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. Or collect and refund. Are you taking part in some sort of competition to be the worlds most unreasonable person by any chance?0
