I would have done that, if I had been able to, but they come the day before the car is handed back, so as you do not have enough time to do that, as dealership body shops you have to book weeks in advance. The PCP is with Audi finance, I have contacted them already and sent pictures etc.

The kind of poor quality paint would very likely not show up on a picture.

And in fact is normally hard to spot in daylight for those not trained to do so.

Sorry to say but if you never noticed the masking tape i suspect you might not be that skilled at this.

I'm a bit confused as to why you never noticed the pieces of tape on the bumper in 2 and a half years. It does seem like the bodyshop did cut corners, they left 2 pieces of tape on the bumper.

He would only be trying to con you if the bumper had never been painted.

    You have learned a lesson.

You can't cheap out with paint or bodywork repairs on a premium vehicle.

Still don't know why Audi or Audi Approved Repairer didn't fix the bumper.

I would not let just anybody repair a car of mine.

But this will not be the first time this assessor has seen cheaply repaired body damage.

The bodyshop you went to were they VBRA?

The body shop that done the original replacement, not paint job, was authorized by Esure and are VBRA approved, as is the company I took the car to yesterday. Where do you get the cheap paint job from? The assessor has not seen a cheap paint job, he has tried and failed to make a cheap buck, by trying to con a customer.

As far as I know theses cars are bought in by the auction if the lease company accepts the valuation.
They then auction them on to make a profit.
The lease company do not care as they can contractually bill you for any short fall.
I would say this would come under an insured loss which could be claimed back if you did not accept a "full and final" settlement, which you should never do.
    Be happy...;)

    Then you would be wrong.

An auction will have a contract to dispose of the assets

BCA have access to lots of data regarding resale values.

So it makes sense for the company that is going to deal with the disposal to also assess and arrange transportation of the vehicles.

BCA will also inspect them and give them a grading and report any faults.

To be honest i wonder if the OP is giving full story.

As masking tape would have fallen off after more than 2 years of washing and general usage.

A proper paint job would not have seen the bumper painted on the car anyway.

And a proper job would certainly not be carried out on a new bumper with the sensors in position and masked with the bumper on the car.

Modern paint processes are much better than when i was in the trade.

They blended the front and rear bumpers and both wings on the wifes Clio. Silver being a tricky one to paint and match properly.

I couldn't tell it had been painted then, 09, and i can't tell now.

OP seems to be looking for an out.

The only out is to read the contract correctly.

And realise that the masking tape is all the proof needed to indicate a cheap job

Spacey2012 is wrong in almost every piece of advice given, it's best just to ignore.

Once your given the value/settlement figure you need to decide if you would be better off selling the car privately. This is often the case.
