Hi K
Wow, lots of good news coming from your household. Well done to OH for undertaking a degree and it getting him a future promotion, that's brilliant. :T Equally big :T for DS on getting his swimming badge.
Shame about the car but at least hubby has one to drive for the time being.
I'm crocheting little bags for dementia patients at the moment. It's a request through a knitting charity and they are lovely to do. Nice quick projects, just the sort I likeI think my days of big blankets may be over, my wrists ain't what they used to be :rotfl:
Hope you all have a lovely week. xx0 -
Thanks tea, I am so proud of the hubby, his family are old fashioned and come from a long line of 'men should be the main provider' which is ridiculous, so I think it makes him feel fab about himself if that makes sense.
Super proud of my son as well, he is very determined when he puts his mind to ithe wanted the badge and got the badge lol
Ohhh that sounds nice about the crochet bags! I love quick projects, I am very nearly finished making myself a scarf/wrap xx
DS got upset last night however as he is worried his handwriting isn't good enough for year 5, I am 99% sure he has dyspraxia, I really need to get it looked into as then at least the school would be understanding if his writing wasn't up to scratch, he has hypermobility as well which I have and it makes our fingers bendy, I always struggled with writing at his age, so I ordered some practise handwriting books for him to do at home, he was over the moon this morning when I told him bless him

Morning K
And the good news just keeps rolling in - well done on passing the theory test :T
That's an old fashioned way of thinking with wages but I do understand if they're the older generation and it's been bred into them to think that way. Times are a changing though and mostly for the better, although there's still some work needs to be done on equal pay.
Aww poor DS. TBH I could hardly read DS's writing until he was at the higher end of primary and it was always mentioned at parent's evening. I used to feel sorry for his teachers. The content was way above average but actually deciphering it must have taken them twice as long as other pupils. I also think poor writing is definitely a boy thing, but if you think there's an underlying reason I'd start the ball rolling with getting him tested. It would benefit to know so you can tell his teachers and if he's not then I guess practise makes perfect is the road to go down. If he's as determined as he sounds he'll get there.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend. xx0 -
Thank You
I am over the moon, told my instructor on the friday (he knew I had it booked but I wouldn't tell him when lol) and was very impressed with my scores (47/50 on the questions, 70/75 on the video) so that made me feel good lol, he has had to change his car as his old one died, so I have gone from a corsa to a astra for my lessons, astra is bigger but I think I did well in it, I much prefer the astra, and the car I will be using when I pass is a grand vitara so it's better that I am learning in a bigger car now.
Speaking of my car it is in the garage today finally getting looked at, fingers (and everything) crossed that it's not super expensive
It is a very old fashioned way isn't it! They aren't even that old (69 and 72) but are very very old fashioned!
I know bless him, it sounds the same as your DS, his content is way way above average, he keeps getting gold certificates for his stories and english work, but he isn't happy with his writing, I have to say, his teachers haven't mentioned anything bad about it to me, so I don't know if it's just DS that isn't happy with it, it was mentioned when he was in year 1, so he tried really hard from then on, year 2 she could read his writing but I have to admit I struggled, and I ask at every parents evening and they've all said they don't have a issue with it.
I hope everyone had a good weekend? ours was a quiet one, we are planning on lunch out at frankie and bennys on sunday followed by toy story 4, we have meerkat so can get bogof food, and I get vouchers through work for cinema, and we can also pre order food online which gives us 20% off that as well, cos the kids love the tango blasts (so do I now lol)

Hi K
I used to love going to the cinema with the kids to watch their films - much better than those aimed at adults in my opinion, although personally I don't think any of the Toy Story sequels have come close to the original - have yet to see Number 4 though so will reserve proper judgement until then.
The only one that left me feeling a bit freaked out was Coraline - weirdly it's one of DD's favourites.
£100 doesn't sound too bad for the car. Fingers crossed that's all you'll need to spend on it.
Have a lovely afternoon. xx0
