Good luck with the application, Wish. When is the closing date? What have you got to send - CV or form?

Not till 22nd April, so I've got the whole of the Easter hols to sort it out. It will be a standard application form and a personal statement, not applied for a new job in 4 years......

  • Hopefully a short update today.......

today is not a NSD because...

It was! A proper one, no planned spends or unplanned spends - go me!

    to improve my MFW status

    No chance of that...

After my car windscreen cracked on Sunday, I've just spent 20 mins trying to heat a homemade freezer meal up in a microwave that has blatantly stopped working. So embarrassed by how long it took me to realise.

Wonder what's going to go wrong next........

Hope you have all had a better day.

    Wish.

  • Evening all, short update tonight, migraine attacking nicely....

Today is not a NSD because...

I went to a meeting this afternoon, car park charge £2.50. No expense claims in my profession.

To counteract this & improve my MFW status

I didn't ring up for a takeaway, but I was tempted too, having no microwave is a pain when I'm home alone.
We don't use it for anything apart from reheating home made freezer meals.... Will have to investigate a new one after Easter.

I'm about to bake a cake and I need to do a couple of loads of washing, otherwise tomorrow will be just too busy.

    Night all.

  • So tonight, I have already tidied the department to within an inch of its life, removed my personal belongings from the area (not a huge amount, I had a massive throw out last year) come home, been out for tea with my dad, and packed the cat off for his holiday,

And it's still only 20 mins after I would normally start to think about tea. I do have a lot to do tonight, but I don't feel any pressure at the moment, but I'm sure that will change.

The children have been superstars today, and they have given me some lovely cards with comments on about how much they are going to miss me.

    As a result of so e of the above;

today is not a NSD because...

A birthday of a work colleague, so card & gift purchased.
Flowers for my wonderful teaching assistants and volunteers, they really do make a big difference to the children and without them I would be a wreck.

I treated my dad to tea out at the pub, not many dads would drive two hours each way to pick up the cat to take back to their house for the holidays, so he(the cat!) doesn't have to go in a cattery that stresses him out and means he doesn't eat. It was worth every penny.
(Oh the cat loves his holidays, he's spoilt rotten by mum and loves all the extra attention they, and the nieces/nephews give him)

to counteract this and improve my MFW status

I resisted all the other nice bits and bobs in the supermarket, supermarket extra spends are a massive weakness of mine, and in the time I've been keeping this diary I've not succumbed at all.

I'm going to tidy up the bank accounts, because the numbers are looking a little awkward, if not ugly.

I don't need to go food shopping tonight because I am away for two weeks and they are providing food.

I may not be posting regularly over the next two weeks, but will try and bob in to see how you are all doing.

Keep saving people, it's sooooo worth it.

    Wish.

  • Evening all, how's the MFW world?

I've just got back from 2 weeks working for hubby, long days, lots of my own work to do in the 'down time' but fantastic to catch up with friends in the same line of work.

The cat had a lovely time on his holiday, in fact he showed his appreciation by bringing my mum 2 live field mice as a gift. She was not grateful at all. Thankfully they will have him for his summer holiday too.

Job application is just about finished, going to submit tomorrow, after a final read through.

Microwave... I'd forgotten it was broken, too much choice for new ones.

today was not a nsd because

I don't know how many nsd we had while we were away, but we didn't over spend on the budget we had set, there is a fair bit of drink buying for colleagues, clients, etc.

Today I've done the food shop, so a planned spend, and booked some train tickets to London

    to improve my mfw status

The additional £2 I got in my take home pay this month due to the increase in the personal tax allowance has been added to our regular mortgage over payment.

Going to catch up on the threads now.

    Happy Easter everyone.

  • So... I've let this slip, but really need to get back on track.

I've been off work since May, I had a meltdown in a meeting, everything got on top of me and that was that. I gave up the fight, the fight to work every waking hour and took some time to chill out and find me again.
Mortgage freeness and no spend days took a bit of a back seat.

I'm trying to put it all behind me, prepare to go back to work on 1st September, but also not get back to the craziness I was experiencing. One of the things I am trying to learn is to not wish time away, as that causes stresses. I trying to learn mindfulness to keep my thoughts in the present.
Not going too well, if I'm looking forward to being mortgage free, but I need to keep such things in perspective.

    So:
today is not a NSD Because
We are on holiday. A week of mooching, reading, knitting and drinking. This is desperately needed. We looked at hubby's work diary and discovered that he has not been home for more than 12 consecutive nights in the last 12 months. We're so grateful that his business is going well, but everyone needs to stop sometime, so we've got this week away, we've then got a week at home together, then it starts again. So NSDs don't count this week.

    to counteract this
I'm really pleased with how the mortgage is going. We are paying off £1000 capital every 2-3 months. This may not seem massive, but it works on the timescale we are working too. It's amazing how little things add up. What I'm especially pleased with, is even on a 31 day month, the interest added in less than £200. In fact it's only just over £195. So, my next target is to get that interest amount down to less than £190 in a 31 day month.

I wonder if I can do that by Christmas?

Thanks for reading everyone. I'm going to aim to post weekly updates. Happy saving one and all.

    Wish

Oh you poor poor thing. Stress is absolutely horrible.

Well done for recognising what you need to do to feel better. I wish you well in your recovery and hope that you feel like your old self soon.

Oh, and for what it's worth your capital repayments look blooming well awesome! Don't sell your achievements short! Good luck with your Christmas goal.
