  • Thank you, I'm back home a bit earlier tonight and rather tired, so going to be an early one. Meeting new people - all my team are lovely and there are loads of nice folk around - looking forward to hearing all the gossip etc.

One bad thing is there is loads of cake, biscuits and chocolates - not good for the diet - but I'm going to allow myself a few weeks to enjoy it all first.

Thank you thank you thank you for all your support in getting me to where I am. Its all about having that confidence in yourself isn't it. I'm never going to let myself get in the state I was last year - please remind me not to. I don't think this job will get to that point, but I've been reading my Allen Carr's no more worrying to remind me.

Right jacket spuds in the oven and I'm off to collapse in front of the box. Have a lovely evening all you loverlies. heart heart.

    :)

  • Enjoy it at first and then say your New Year was delayed a bit by all the new stuff going on but you're hitting the diet and exercise. Like me ;) mines delayed until the Christmas gunk is gone, and I can exercise and then I am on it like the proverbial car bonnet :D

So happy you are happy. It is lovely to see you; you're like a flower blooming :) a big shiny daffodil trumpeting to the world how confident and happy you are. No we won't ever let you get like that again. Build yourself up bit by bit. Or come and live in my fort. I'll protect you ;)

Have a lovely evening and a nice early night. xx

Glad to hear that you seem to have found a place which is nice to work, it makes all the difference. Enjoy it, you deserve it.

  • Thank you guys, it seems like a cosy lovely place for me to work. I have a lovely team. I'm not really working at the moment so will not sure exactly what I'll be doing, which could make me nervous. However I have a bit of confidence now, that even if it doesn't work out I will survive. They aren't attacking me personally like carp job, and if I don't like the work or they don't like my work (as if!) I won't be beaten into submission, they would be very supportive.

Not being negative, just explaining why I feel so calm and happy and full of energy - wow what a strange feeling. :D

The world is full of joy again and yes I am a trumpeting daffodil. :D:j:T

Take care all and thank you for your wonderful support. ps it's blooming windy here at the moment.

Delighted to hear it's going well and with not doing work per se as yet, instead of thinking the nerves might come, is it possible to suggest things you could do? A good way to further increase confidence as you've got a great team by sounds of things so the added benefit of hands on support in these very early days. :)

And first week almost over - where did that go  Brilliant to end it on a high with a fabulous weekend to reflect, enjoy and be bouncy for Monday morning :D

    Hi SS!

Whilst I have worked where I am now for nearly 15 years, I can remember clearly those 'why am I here' blues from previous jobs and it sometimes seems employers get somebody on board without thinking through exactly what their role and responsibilities actually are. It is beyond belief how incompetent employers can be.

I am sure all will come together SS and no boss should be upset with an employee who goes to ask them what exactly they are supposed to be doing....so do it if you need to :) !

If colleagues are friendly then that is a major thing and remember why you are there - its for payments into the bulging SS bank account isn't it? I keep reminding myself that each time I fly through a little 'numpty tw*t turbulence :rotfl:'

  • Lol at the turbulence Brogden!!

SS it is only your first week so don't panic just yet. What conversations were had in your interview ref your job role and where you fitted in? If you were not replacing someone but they need to expand their team to balance the workload better, the job will fit to you over a few months.

When I first moved down here and took the job I am still in now, they were panicking about whether I was going to stay in Kent, or not and they would be stuck so they delayed giving me things for a few weeks and just *let me settle* which was rather unsettling so I know how you feel. I was an addition to the team and my colleagues saw me as a threat, someone taking their jobs, even though I was evening the workload a bit so they were a bit mean! Eventually I sat down with boss and explained I would feel better if I had more things allocated to me as I didn't get on well with sitting around.. suddenly I was overflowing with work ;)

Maybe they are just trying to see how you handle things. And allocate stuff as you get a bit more into the company.

Relax a bit :) they are paying you to do nothing but eat cake and chat right now xx
