    Hi SS.
Thanks for popping over to my diary =)

    Congrats on the new job.
I'm glad you're happy about it.
Just whizzed through your diary and saw you were hesitant, but you shouldn't be miserable in your job, so even with a pay cut, you'll be better off, emotionally, physically, and probably even financially because you'll be less tired and stressed and more able to focus on debt busting.

And yes, a second job does sound like a good idea if you can fit it.
I got myself a second job just recently alongside my part time job.
Now I'm full time, I'm gonna keep up my second job for now, see how I get on as it's only 7.5 hours a week (3.75 hours a day on saturday and sunday).
My part-time hours covers all my bills (my phone, board to mum, petrol, car finance & car insurance) and my second job goes straight into my savings account where I'm saving for my house deposit.
And I'm just deciding where to put my extra full time hours towards - choices of more savings, pay back mum the money I owe her or saving up to lump sum my car. I'm gonna try and tackle all three, just trying to decide what percentages of it to put to which.
    Debts (as of 28/10/15)
    Mum: Start £3426.00 Now £2655.00 22.5% Car (on finance): Start 13823.60 Now £8728.59 36.85%
    Current Debt Free Day: 12/1/2019

    Goals:
    £2000 emergency fund £800/£2000 40%
    £5000 House Deposit £62.09/£5000 1.24%
Car Finance Settlement Fee As of 28/10/15 £0.00/£7152.18 0%

    Thank you both. :):):)

It's really great for me. Yes a lot less cash but less hours and so much less stress. I will be back to cooking a lot more, cleaning and doing the shabby chic thread. :rotfl:

I'm going to try living on next to nought:eek:

Have told the boss but not yet given my notice. I know that's a risk but I needed to get a reference agreed. On tenterhooks slightly until I get the firm offer. Will keep you posted.

Fab fab fab. Will look through my early posts when it's all done. I was feeling so miserable then. :o:o:):):)

So pleased for you with the new job, well done. :T I'm a good example of taking a big drop in salary but have a much better work/home balance and very little stress in comparison and much happier with it. I'm sure you will be too :)

Thank you, that's so good to hear. DH keep having little digs (not seriously but its there), I'll be glad when its all confirmed and I can get on with it. We'll be fine - and at least I'll be healthy.

Thanks for all your support :):T:)

Have just looked through my old posts and remembered just how unhappy I was. Wow can't believe that those days are nearly over.

Yes, I won't be so financially well off but I'm going to have time to enjoy my life for a while. Take a course, do some shabby chiccing to my bits of furniture, spend more time with DD, do some volunteering, baking, sewing, coffee with friends etc. etc. All those things that add to the quality of life.

    Yayyyyy.:T

Got my lemon cakes in the oven using the 22p Tesco basics lemon curd. :). Going to give the chocolate orange one a try, need to buy some basics marmalade and swap some flour for cocoa powder. :)

Hope everyone is okay? Been very quiet lately as I've bee kind of holding my breath waiting for new job/am I doing the right thing etc....well yes at this time I am. Looking towards the future and better things to come. I will have learned from it and moved on. Will try not to worry and take it all steps at a time.

Really enjoying baking now, DD is into the money saving too and we are all feeling motivated. :):)

  • you've made your decision, now be happy in it. Otherwise, you could muck up a new start with the what ifs. Even though it's a pay cut, if you're anything like me, you'll spend less and live more healthily if you're happier. it can work out for the best. you just need to believe that!

Thanks INOD I needed a kick up the butt. Am really happy. :rotfl: really really. Have been planning what to do with extra time. :) going to do a course, enjoy life etc.

DD has been super saving with me, going to have a great half term.

It was definitely a job step too far, I won't say I wouldn't go there again but would be more cautious next time and ask more questions, make sure the support offered is appropriate and not just lip service.

Am off out tonight but am going to read through everyone's updates tomorrow and get myself back on track.

Thanks again. Have a great evening. :)

    one door closes...... :-)

Have been really worrying about all the red tape needed for my new job. Have really nothing to worry about but until I get that unconditional letter through I just can't relax.

    I need a list:

[strike]Read the gas meter so that I can pay off scotpower this month and switch to Daligas (remember Ali-ok's link)
Quick run through of spreadsheet and update signature as it's payday!![/strike] Our cc's are now under £17k (I know its still a lot but we are getting there - it was mid-£20's at highest so going in right direction. I also have my car on finance but its now about £12k and if I sold it would break even so am not planning on changing just yet).
    Have a flyround
    [strike]Get ready to go out[/strike]
Take car for 2 new tyres
    [strike]Meet my friend
Car wash (I think I may treat myself at the car wash). If I take my ipad I may be able to get on with my online excel course at cost (do they have wifi?)
    Some of my course[/strike]
More flying and cook jacks burgers for tonight.
Sign up for the CIMA Business Maths course which is on offer from £400 to £80, last day today
    Relax and stop worrying
Oh and go and take advantage of the free sunbed in town - that may be tomorrow, and I really need to take DD swimming

We've had a frugal time this week foodwise. We made soup from the chicken carcass on Tuesday, then had the rest yesterday. I didn't have room in the fridge for the pan and as we were going to eat it quickly I left it on the stove top (our house is very cool). However it was left for 2 nights - but I boiled it up and we are still alive. I remember an ex boyfriends parents used to keep their stew this way for about a week - they said they used to boil it up every day. We haven't always had fridges, so I guess that was how it was done. Nowadays I always think if it's been left out of the fridge awhile it has to go but I'm not sure why. I know you have to be careful, but it does make you think.

Anyhow my listing has stopped me worrying for a bit. Off to put it into action. :rotfl::T:):T:rotfl::rotfl::A

ps Saturday need to take up the hem on DDs dress we bought ex-monsoon
