Well I Sent The Letters, Have Heard Nothing Yet Again, Do I Just Sit And Wait To See What Credit Company They Have Now Sold It On To, As I Expect That Is What Will Happen And Then Start The Process Again With The New Company

No Kurjam - you have sent the 'In Default' letter, so now you need to start thinking about complaining to the Information Commissioner's Office:

    Kurjam,
You are the winner here as the debt is unenforcable and you have got one over on these morons, you are the one in the driving seat now, so you decide how you wish to proceed...
If they pass it on you only have to ask the next DC why they acting illegally by chasing a disputed defaulted debtand any future DCA has NO CHASNCE of collecting 1 penny from you. You would be better using your energy as Rog said and raise a complaint. Also you could take them to court to have the default removed from your credit report.

    Best Wishes CC99

apex letter says they will send someone round within 3days to check elligability of my residency at my address can they do this ??

    Hi Kurjam.

I have been reading this thread all afternoon, and to say im annoyed - and releived at the same time is a total understatement.

I too have been in EXACTLY the same situation, had a natwest credit card which proceeded to go off to AIC. all i can say about them is a complete bunch of A holes. At the time of the default occuring with natwest, i had just lost my job, and unfortuanly had just turned 19 with a whole load of niavety....
These guys have hassled and hassled. ddi not care less that my income was a joke and ended up sweet talking me into paying them anyway. then they sold it off to Apex....
EVEN WORSE!!! this guys are just badasses, have sent me every threat possible under the sun - thing is not being able to give in to their demands is also a very clever way of not paying them. cant pay what you dont have!
Anyway after the vast amounts of letters they sent me threatening again again and again (including repeating themselves several times) im finally down to £175 which they told me had to be paid in one month or they would pass it on. i said this was not possible and was then offered a settlement at £100 which i agreed to.
Dodgy thing is they didnt charge me like they said they would - instead they proceeded to return the debt to natwest... which has seriously confused me, as there was no way of me contacting them to settle it. also a bit peed off that they didnt stick to the original agreement....

i wish id had seen this earlier, i never knew about these forums or asking for half the stuff thats mentioned here. always attempted to deal with issues myself. and now i have a motherload to deal with :(

Hi Stevo, don't worry, you'll get good advice around here. I was at my wits end with AIC until i found this thread.

Always ask for everything in writing, especially lower settlement prices.

I got stung by a DCA and 'settled' for less money, then all of a sudden the remainder is still owed... Just remember they will do anything to get their money, including lie.

Oddly enough i never heard from AIC again. They got all the paperwork, i sent a letter saying i was satisfied and willing to pay, and never heard from them again.
