It doesn't exclude weight checks. It is the participation in the NCMP that is excluded.
Misguided in that in your mission to say that it is harmful practice that school or LA are satisfied with an opt out clause you didn't bother to specify that they only followed DH guidance for the weight and height checks. As for your last sentence it makes no sense. NCMP is the weight and height check programme.0 -

I didn't say it was harmful, but now that you mention it.. it is harmful because it abuses the trust people put in professionals, and therefore causes distrust in the future. The last sentence does make sense - you can be weighed and measured without being included in the NCMP. The NCMP is the sharing of the information - not the actual weighing...I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
You're playing with words and you know it. No school is going to do weight and height checks outside of the programme. They do it because they are told to do so as part of the programme therefore your statement that the programme is only about the reporting is quite pointless.0

It's people like you who are making society go that way.

A note on consent
As a registered nurse or specialist community public health
nurse, you must obtain consent before you give any
treatment or before you take a child’s weight and height
measurements. This consent must be given voluntarily by an
informed and legally competent person (NMC, 2013). For
five plus screening, you or your team will require a consent
form from the child’s legal guardian. For more information
on consent, please see Useful websites.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
POint 3.3.4 of the guidance of Department of Health.
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/251917/NCMP-guidance-October-2013-2.pdfRegulations11 make provision for the programme to operate without explicit consent from parents. However, the Regulations require local authorities to take steps to ensure that parents understand the value of having their child measured and have reasonable opportunity to withdraw their child. This should be done by ensuring that letters are sent to parents and carers at least two weeks before the measurements are scheduled to take place using the template pre-measurement letter

Sounds like the rcn needs to update their guidance, to be fair, the legislation only came out last year...0 -

Again, that is just applicable to the NCMP, not eye tests, hearing tests and everything else that has been done without consent or legal basis. And the law is only a minimum requirement - the NMC can produce requirements that are more stringent than the law requires, which healthcare professionals are required to abide by.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Sounds like we are going around in circles. I am only refuting your assertion that schools should be asking for consent for weight and height checks which clearly they do not.0

Oh my dear God in heaven would you just get over it woman! Accept it and move on!! If you don't opt out it is a form of permission and the check will be done!! Accept it whether you like it or not!!
If you don't want the child to be checked to make sure they are healthy, then inform the school, God help the child, and shame on you.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0
