Cheapest pay as you go rate
I have a Nokia 'brick' which is only used for occasional calls (pick up from shopping etc) or to be available if away from home.
At present it is on O2,but this is only because I used to have a discount on my O2 broadband. Now this is no longer relevant, I am considering changing provider, so wonder what would be the cheapest calls only option for me.
The phone is just basic (no internet) and I am not interested in a new handset, as it is used so little.

If it's 3G compatible then 3UK.
The rates are 3p per minute and 2p per text.====0 -

Looking at this Talk Home (available from local shops, I notice)and Toggle seem to be the cheapest fro calls only. I've not heard of either before.
I am a complete novice with mobiles as mine was only bought (as a gift) to get the O2 discount, so if I had, say, a £10 topup on these, how do I find out how much time in actual calls I would have, as opposed to paying for airtime ?0 -
It's a 5 year old basic Nokia (ie not smart), so certainly isn't 3G compatible.
Nokia were selling 3G capable phones over 10 years ago so age doesn't preclude it (by 3G doesn't necessarily mean an internet phone, just the ability to work on 2100MHz).
Some brand new phones still aren't 3G capable, while some very old phones are.
While it sounds like it might not be, what's the actual model?
If it isn't capable, for the saving of say £5 a month between a low user on Three and having to pay £10 to O2 it might be worth considering getting a cheap 3G handset.====0 -

Toggle Mobile is a minimum £20 top up owned by Lebara.
Talk Home a obscure brand.
See my post number 16 at https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4926139 which gives you a number of low user choices
So if you choose say the Tesco Payg Lite Tariff you would get 125 minutes for £10 Which is (£10 divided by 8p) The same for Talk Mobile. If your phone is not unlocked the O2 phone would normally accept Tesco Sim.Plus you get Tesco points.0 -
I've no idea what model my phone is and can't find the handbook at the moment. It is so old that when I do surveys about phones, there is never a photo of it.
My O2 ran out but it is working on my husband's spare Vodaphone sim.0 -
I've just had a look at the Tesco offer, but the problem is that the minutes don't roll over from month to month (ie use it or lose it). Some months I don't make any mobile calls and just have incomings, so need something like the O2 sim that only needs topping up when calls run out.0

I referred you to my post in the other thread where it mentions the Tesco LITE Tariff.I CLEARLY indicated that you dont have to top up every month, and pointed out the terms and conditions which only require you to make a call every 6 months. So your £10 could last for years. I even posted link to get sim and the Tariiff.I've just had a look at the Tesco offer, but the problem is that the minutes don't roll over from month to month (ie use it or lose it). Sorry about that, but I was in a hurry so did a quick Google of Tesco mobile, meaning to look up your links, later, when I had more time.0
