  • All good here with EE. No issues with switch, happy with the DD as it reflects my usage. Could not give a monkeys how long a bill takes as it is a clear 10% cheaper than anyone else. Cheers

Just thought I'd remind people of what the Tariff was for elec back in April when I switched:

Unit rate 9.72p and standing charge of 36.16.

The original standing charge I signed up to was cheaper but as I then opted for the "payment on bill" method every 3 months (that's a joke in itself) I pay more than those on DD but the benefits of not paying by DD are well worth the slightly higher standing charge.

Based on the most recent tariff on offer and given above by CashStrapped and on my based on my annual usage, I am £360 a year better off on my current EE tariff.

p.s. Update on my late bill situation: 50 days and still counting.

As I've said before, what a way to run a business!

    Interesting Rogcal:

    What was your tariff name?

I made a similar post a month ago. I found the opposite is true for me. The EE tariff I would/could have chosen back in april would now be more expensive compared to other tariffs on the market.

I went with scottish power (who I have had no issue with). They have, since I have been with them, released more competative tariffs month on month. I have also been allowed to switch to these new tariffs without any problem/fuss.

I compared the latest Scottishpower tariff I am on to the original extraenergy tariff I would have been "stuck" with (as far as I am aware EE do not allow internal switches). I found that my current Scottishpower tarriff is much cheaper than the original EE tariff I was considering back in april June.

    Interesting Rogcal:

    What was your tariff name?

Copied from my contract dated 25th April 2014:

Tariff Name: Fixed Price September 2015
    Payment Method: Receipt of Bill
Standing Charge: 36.16p per day (exc VAT)
Unit Rate: 9.72p per kWh (exc VAT)
    Exit Fees: £25.00
    Annual Consumption: 10,300 kWh
Estimated Annual Spend: £1133.14 (exc VAT)

and here is the DD Tariff it was going to be before I decided to opt for paying on Receipt of Bill:

Tariff Name: Fixed Price September 2015
Unit Rate: 9.72p per kWh (Day)
    Payment Method: Direct Debit
    Standing Charge: 22.47p per day
    Exit Fees: 25.00£
    Annual Consumption: 10300 kWh
    Estimated Annual Spend: £1083.18

So £53 a year more (or a quid a week) for not having the hassle of a DD.
  • My switchover has been a painful one. I'm coming from npower to EE. EE estimated a totally incorrect initial gas reading. And between npower and EE they've managed to get completely dumbfounded as to what the final/initial meter readings should be. Multiple calls to both companies has resolved nothing and I have hundreds of pounds tied up in my old npower account which can't be refunded.

    Really unimpressed so far.

Also the lack of information (previous meter readings, usage) on their site for your account is appalling.

If you want to have more control over your account usage, I would not recommend EE. However if you want a basic company who charge very little and also give you very little back, then sign up.

I'm afraid I rather "lost my rag" today with Extra Energy. Like many others, I have been paying monthly and submitting readings each month and I have yet to receive an accounting for the money I have paid to them. This is really unacceptable to me as I like to know exactly where I am with my energy usage because my OH has a heart complaint and we use a LOT of heat to keep him feeling warm. I have said, and I will carry it out, that I will write to the Ombudsman if I do not receive an accounting by the end of this month.

I seem to have been fighting energy companies since 2000 when we were "stolen" by Virgin Energy. That took me about 13 years to sort out properly, calculating my actual usage each year and applying for £500-£600 to be repaid - yes just for a year! During that shambles (which was nothing to do with Extra Energy of course) someone actually said to me "Mrs X you can't possibly calculate your energy usage". Needless to say, I can.

    HiLias110rry,

Currently we only offer six monthly billing – I’m sorry ifthis does not meet your expectations. If you provide monthly meter readsthese will be taken into account when your bill is generated. Got to admit I was thinking of posting something similar. I have been with them for over 6 months and have no clue how much I am in credit/debit without working out my bill. I know some on here will disagree but that is their job. The timescales for bills keep getting put back and it is really not good enough. It's not as if they haven't had experience elsewhere in europe.

    Hi bondy01,

    HiLias110rry,

    Wow, how patronising is that!

The small matter of a long overdue interactive website says much about how little the customers of ExtraEnergy are regarded by the company.

Unlike Pip in Great Expectations I have but two expectations.

An interactive website and my long overdue bill.

    Hi Rogcal /Lias110rry,

Sorry it wasn't meant to be patronizing. Rogcal I've chased your bill today and it's on its way.

    Hi Attiya

Any chance of chasing mine. Checked joined you on the 5 May not 2 April as originally documented. However still way past the 6 month stage.

    Thanks.
