How can they be overcharging you? Your DD was based on your own estimate of your usage. If you've actually used less than you estimated, that's hardly their fault.
But they're overcharging me.
I'm 1 weeksaway from being with them a year. They stated originally I'd pay £63 DD a month but it's been £72 a month and I've had no luck getting it changed. I've received one email saying it will be reviewed and 1 phone 'advisor' saying it will be reviewed. Oh, and 3 promises of a bill within 5 working days.0 -

I am appalled that every time I re-visit this thread EE just seem to be getting worse and worse. I've happily moved back to EDF.
I'm nearly £1000 in credit with them and swirching from them on 1st of October, I got the threatening letter too, phoned them up and to give them their due the guy on the phone said ignore it and he would put a note on my file, only worry is they have a habit of ignoring whats on file0 -
Opted for GB energy but just thought their suggested 25 days to switch is before the end of my contract with EE (31st October). Have I read somewhere 49 days before the end of contract is ok?0

In accordance with new Ofgem regulations, suppliers must send you notice about your plan's upcoming end date 42 - 49 days before the end of your plan. EE's notice is very clear and includes the following:- You can swap tariff or switch supplier up to 49 days before your contract ends without incurring an exit fee

Provided you didn't apply to switch more than 42 days before the 31st October then EE cannot charge an exit fee/s. They have an Ofgem obligation to inform you that your fixed tariff is coming to an end 49 to 42 days before your contract ends. The time it takes for the switch to go through is not a factor. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The monthly DD amount is not a fixed amount. Energy companies base your DD amount on 2 years of historical data for your property. This data known as the Estimated Annual Consumption (electricity) and Annual Quantity (Gas) is given to the supplier on switch. EE's FAQs state:
When will my Direct Debit payments by re-assessed?
Based on industry data and the meter readings you provide, we'll automatically re-assess your Direct Debit payments every six months to ensure that you're not accumulating too much credit or debit on your account. Your six monthly statement will reflect any changes made to your Direct Debit payment amounts.
How can I make sure my Direct Debit payments reflect how much I actually use?
When you submit meter readings, they're taken into account in the generation of your statement. In addition, functionality on My extraenergy is currently being tested to allow customers to provide meter reads and request a re-assessment of their Direct Debit amount, so their payments accurately reflect their usage. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. If so, and it shows you should be paying less than £72pm, call the billing team and ask them to amend the DD - and be persistent until they do! That's what I did and, when given the evidence, they agreed and amended my DD.0 -
Thank you both, one less thing to think about.
I plan to cancel my dd before the next payment is taken which should mean I owe them £20 or so.0
