Is it possible that losing suppliers (in this case EE) try to get a set of current meter readings if they can, as a double check that the transfer readings (as provided by the gaining supplier) are correct?0

Wow! So seems I'm not the only one.....
I've been with EE since December 2014. Made 10 DD payments of £85 for duel fuel but have never been billed so currently showing as £850 in credit.
I e-mailed them to query this over a week ago. No reply.
So I phoned them about 30 minutes ago. Took ages to get through but when I did I got spun a !!!! 'n' bull story about my bill being generated this morning (coincidence that after 10 months it happens to be generated on the morning I phone), but it can't be sent as the 'delivery suite' system is down.
Alarm bells started to ring so i googled it and came upon this thread.
WOW! What a shambles this company appears to be!
Don't have time to read through all 110 pages, but does anyone know the average time for people to receive their first bill?
I'm just worried if I have not being paying enough (and I suspect for duel fuel and a family of 4 £85 per month probably isn't enough) that I am suddenly going to get hit with a huge bill or rise in DD, and yet its completely their fault!
Do we have any rights or comeback or just have to take it on the chin if that happens?
Or can i just leave after 12 months and go to someone else and refuse to pay anything thats owing due to their complete incompetence?
Any advice most welcome.

Dean, someone will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong, but the terms and conditions in your contract state you must get at least one bill in 12 months, so on that score they're not in breach at present.
£85 does sound a little low, but what owuld I know, I use a lot of gas to heat my home.
Edit: Victor Delta, I suspect that rather than your explanation, they wanted an up to date reading so they could overcharge me/double charge me for days when they are not my supplier, post 10/09/15.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

It will be interesting to see which way it turns out....0 -
Well, here we are again, 2nd letter received after speaking to them on the 22 where they agreed not to impose a charge for their erroneous DD and agreed that the account was in credit etc. A new DD was already set up as well.
I have now sent a formal complaint to them as the second letter upped the charge to 17.50!
What on earth can I do about these idiots? I have sent the email by letter as well to the registered office and the director. Waiting on hold for 35 min now.0 -
Don't use them!! I've been with them a year and have just got out. I'm still waiting for my first bill - I've worked out my usage and they have been vastly overcharging me. When I stopped my last direct debit as I was, I calculated, around £300 in credit - and I told them I was doing this - they have sent me a letter threatening bailiffs
The "customer service" is shocking; I've never had the phone answered in under half an hour, and once held for two hours. They say they will do things and then they don't.
Stay clear would be my advice. There are better deals out there and certainly ones with less hassle.0 -

How utterly ridiculous that they are threatening bailiffs when you are £300 in credit. No debt collection company would be able to enter your house and take goods to the value of ...... what?
I am appalled that every time I re-visit this thread EE just seem to be getting worse and worse. I've happily moved back to EDF.Holding back the years...0 -

Why on earth did you stop your direct debit?
You agreed a tariff that required monthly direct debits. For that you received a very good tariff.
e.g. based on average consumption, and the East Midlands supply region, you would pay about 50% more at todays rates for not opting for the best pay monthly by DD tariff Extra Energy provide.
If your other post that suggests you only agreed to pay about £250 for your total annual usage is correct, it'll cost double now you failed to keep to your agreement to pay monthly by DD.
What are they threatening bailiffs about?
Bailiffs are usually used to collect arrears, but you said you haven't even had a bill, so how can you owe anything?
Or are the bailiffs to come an install a prepayment meter?0 -
The letter about bailiffs is probably just auto-generated.0
