Has anybody tried taking EE to small claims court to get their money back, after waiting weeks and weeks for the final bill which never arrived? I'm going to take that route

Scary when you think about the overhead costs. If a meter reader turns up at my door I will say "hold on a minute, I will just go speak to my boss, I promise to come back"

I have had one meter reader during my 8 month relationship with EE, and that was just for electricity, I asked him about the gas and he said they only want the electric reading, which about sums them up. it's a a company that works on behalf of several of the energy companies (and he recommended Ovo if I wanted to change).

After 6 posts to date re EE I thought I would update...

Finished with EE on the 5th December 2014....(never received a single Bill)
After Numerous phone calls & emails requesting Final Bill (& involving Ombundsman) I finally received a Final Bill on the 2nd March showing I was in credit by £279 , bottom of the bill said that all monies would be credited by the 11th March.
No Money was paid into my account.
Like others I then had the £12 Government Rebate taken from my account.
Yet again I phoned them asking for the adjustment to be made & told them I wanted my money credited back to me immediately.
I was then told my account would be credited with the £12 my exit fee would be waivered & the £279 would be in my account by the 7th April.
    Guess What ....NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have yet again been on the phone to them today & now awaiting a call back.

It is disgusting & totally unacceptable that in this day & age a company Like EE can hold on to your money , make false promises & you are helpless.

To all those considering a move to them.....AVOID AT ALL COST !!!

    You will regret it.....

Why don't you take them to small claims court to get your money back?

This bunch of jokers were recommended to me by MSE Energy Club which - as we now all know - is just as much a con as any other of the Switch companies and serves it's own interests and not that of its Users.

Currently been on hold for 32 mins to speak to someone after numerous emails ignored

Who wants to go through all this to get money owed, and that's what they are relying on:

"Unfortunately you have to pay a fee and you may not get your money back if you don't win. You may have to go to a court hearing if the other person or business denies owing the money.

You can get the court to order them to pay if they admit owing the money or don’t respond.

If they still won’t pay, you’ll need to ask the court to take extra steps to collect the money - eg using bailiffs. This is called enforcing a judgment."

I'm sure they owe me money, at least to deny or accept it they have to produce the final bill!

The consumer is getting a bad deal with the energy companies and its about time someone stood up to them on our behalf. According to a previous post the Ombudsman is not replying to emails and is probably overwhelmed with complaints. CAB have experienced cut backs so have to decide whether or not to help, they only give advice, have you tried this or that is all they say. I expect EE will eventually get their act together but in the meantime we are the guinea pigs.:(

What are you going to take them to court for ? "I think they owe me some money" does not stand up as a small claim. You would be the one getting a telling off for wasting the court's time. That is what the recognised official complaints route and ombudsman is for. I know to the penny how my account stands, you would need that information for a court case.

I have Been with ee since November. I had a meter reading 2 weeks ago and the guy submitted my gas and electric readings the wrong way round! I spoke to a nice chap on the phone who said he would update it and investigate what had happened. I can see the correct meter reading are now showing but I'm dreading my first bill! I'm already well in arrears but to be honest, I was advised my direct debit would not be amended within the first 12 months due to me signing up in the winter but I. Am really nervous about my first bill. I wish I hadn't left npower now. Based on what's been said here, I will be the unlucky one who DOES get a bill, they will double my direct debit!

The problem is if you don't have an official bill from EE how can you prove it, you only have your own calculations.
