My contract with Extra Energy expires in September, it was live by Sept 10th last year. Assuming, to be safe, it expires 30th Sept, and taking in to account it takes about 4 weeks to switch, would it be safe to start switching from EE on 10th Sept this year. When they have taken the Sept DD on the 25th, would it be wise to then cancel the DD. Assuming I have a bill by then I can see if they owe me money. I also want to avoid going onto the higher tariff after the contract ends and if I wait till Sept 30th to start the switch I would be paying more for Oct & Nov thereby negating any savings I have made this past year.

"Before switching, check whether you'll incur a fee for cancelling your current energy deal. Exit fees are common with fixed rate tariffs if you switch early. The good news is that all suppliers should now allow you to leave up to 49 days ahead of your tariff's end date without incurring a penalty."

You might end up building up a credit by then and looks like nobody has yet got a refund. Also - although very unlikely - they may actually send you a bill before September and they then seem to increase the DD regardless. Why not work out your bill now and see if you are in credit or debit and go from there?

Thank you for your advice. I think I have decided to go back to EDF. I have looked at Martins cheap energy saving club site and they offer £30 cash back which will help pay the exit fees. EDF are not the cheapest in the comparison but the first 2 cheapest have a warning from the CES club that they are experiencing computer or customer service difficulties, so frying pan and fire comes to mind.

I want to move back to a supplier who gave me no problems during the 2 years I was with them and stop worrying about EE; their billing (or lack of it) getting my refund, ignoring emails, telling lies on the phone, and giving false names. they probably have a great laugh when a customer asks for someone by name. they are totally un- professional and are not fit for purpose. I feel better for that:o

All those EE customers who are still having problems should Tweet them because this website is monitoring Twitter. You will see this on the R.H side of this page in the column "Martin's Twitter": e.g.

@MoneySavingExp: We're hearing of problems with Co-Op Energy. Are you struggling? Tell us your key issues.

This is why they have warned that the 2 cheaper Energy companies are small and are having problems. They seem to underestimate the response to a cheap tariff and then have problems coping. Might also get a response from EE and it worked for Mabel.

Have started the switch, I feel good again (at the moment):shhh:

just had a email from my current supplier eon who i switched to in december from ee-
    Hello ****

As per your call to me on 4 March 2015, the dispute on your gas opening reading is taking longer as the other supplier(EE) advised they had not received our previous three requests. We had to re-raise the dispute again on 19 March 2015 and now we have to allow them a few more weeks before we can ring them. Please rest assured I will check for you and update you as soon as this has been resolved.

    With thanks.

    AVOID EE AT ALL COST!!!

started the switch to EDF yesterday, already I can log on to their website and track my progress. Hope EE will not be obstructive during this process and not co-operate with EDF. Watch this space!

I was promised my 6 month bill for the 26/03/2015.
    Today is the 27/03/2015.
Today I call EE, as you probably can guess no bill has been received. Today I have started a complaint as I was promised a bill from EE. EE have failed to produce a bill which is unacceptable behaviour and is a break of their T&S'c!
I am promised that a complaints handler will call within 48 hours, this in my reckoning takes me to no later than Tuesday 31st.
I will not be surprised if I do not receive a phone call! So I will be calling EE Wednesday morning to raise another complaint for the lack of no phone call which is promised....

I also thought it worthwhile asking if the DD amount which was agreed to be lowered earlier this month has been altered (See earlier posts). Worryingly the amount has NOT be changed and still the same amount!
I have made it very clear that the higher payment will not be made and will be blocked on the 10th April if this amount has not been changed and confirmed by EE prior to the 10th April!

I DO NOT TRUST YOU EE WITH MY MONEY.

I will be backing this up with an email to EE even though I have all my phone calls recorded.

Stay away from EE as its clearly not operating to any standard!

Its gone quiet in here, the suspense having to wait is killing me.. :wall:

In the meantime, I have changed my mind. I am going to trial the Direct Debit guarantee as I haven't tried this approach before.
If EE take the incorrect amount then they will have broken the DD terms, thus this will result in a request to refund on that basis.
If I am wrong, then EE will have to contact me wont they :lipsrseal

    DD Guarantee
If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by the organisation or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society
If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when the organisation asks you to

Know what you mean. I hadn't realised how often I'm reading this thread until it slowed down the other day. I suppose we are all just waiting for responses to our various queries/complaints now. :(

Im the same, reading this thread like there is no tomorrow. But hey they do have my £££'s which im not yet billed for due to their incompetence.

It is interesting to see no EE reps pass by and say holla, or at minimum try and reassure their loyal customers that everything is going to be ok and back this up with factual information.
Simply hiding isnt going to do them any favors, it will simply make the determined, more determined.

Im just waiting for Wednesday as im certain EE wont contact me Tuesday with an answer to my complaint.

Shame we cant place a poll on this thread >>

Will EE contact me Tuesday YES or NO
