I switched from SSE Atlantic to EE last month and the posts on this forum amaze me.
Am i missing something - I dont understand everyones desperate desire to have a monthly bill ??
I completely understand people being angry they are waiting for refunds but apart from that I dont see what the problem is.
SSE Atlantic only issue bills every 6 months and ive been with them for years - it seriously is not a problem ! You know how much you should be paying a month so as long as your direct debits are about that, then there shouldn't be a problem.
Worse case, EE might put your direct debit up a little in the future but hey, thats no different from any other company !
I swopped because my electric usage is 16000 units a year (several teenagers in the house!) and i was paying over £200 a month direct debit (no arrears) as was on 12p a unit. I am now on 8p a unit and direct debit is set at £123 a month.
I think if i need to see that in writing once a month, then i seriously need to get out more :rotfl:
Not sure people are wanting a monthly bill but a 6 monthly one would be a start. Some of us have now been with EE close to a year and still no bill. Even those who have had a bill it would seem it is not an up to date one and then they increase the direct debit based on this. The problem is leaving when in credit with them - looks like they have no facility to refund.
What sort of company offers online management of your account and then almost one year down the line is saying it is still in progress??0 -

Who,s asking for monthly bill?
Any bill would be nice. We,re 11 months with these amateurs and still no bill!
We,ve moved to another energy company now anyway.
God knows how long we,ll have to wait for our final bill & a quite substantial refund of credit we,ve built up in 11 months.
Hope they don,t go bust while we,re waiting!0 -
I transferred both Gas and Electric to Extra Energy on 15 April 2013. However despite chasing up on numerous occasions I have never had any bills from them. I was told I would receive one in mid October and when I chased this in early November I was told I would receive a bill in late December, which I told them was unacceptable and that was leaving Extra Energy and would not pay the early exit fees as they were not keeping to the terms of business I signed up to. I then arranged to transfer to Eon and cancelled my DD. The transfer to Eon took place in early December and yesterday I received an email from EON requesting my meter readings, which I supplied, within 4 hours I received an accurate bill from Eon of my last 3 months usage.
However I am still waiting for a bill from Extra Energy for the 8 months I was with them, I have chased this on numerous occasions and apparently I am on their priority billing list but I am not holding out much hope. When I look at my account online it shows my balance as being £480 in credit, I have manually calculated what my bill should be for the time I have been with them and I owe them about £20. If and when I ever receive a bill I will pay this but I am glad that I left them before they actually owed me any money.
As most people have said they have had 12 months to sort out their website and billing systems out and they are a joke, how on earth can you take over 3 months to produce a final (and my only bill).
I feel very sorry for anyone who has left them and are owed money by Extra Energy as they appear incapable of repaying the money.
My advice to anyone who is worried about building up a credit balance before they leave is to cancel their DD and tell Extra Energy that they are breaking the terms of your agreement with them and you will not be paying any early termination fees. They agreed that I did not have to pay any.0 -
The best way, as with any utility company, is to keep your DD low and not build up a credit; i.e. best to be in debit. (ways and means of managing this...) Sure, you'll have to pay then off at the end of the contract but then you're in control and earning interest on your money, not them.
As for EE, joined them last October, not had a bill, and not bothered if they never bill me as I know I'll be in debit. Always switch every year so guess they'll bill me then; might even pay them;) Sounds like they aren't really bothered either way and would be too incompetent to notice or do anything about it.
You can play these shambolic companies to your own advantage. When Amerada got took over by Powergen, I was in debit and they never collected.0 -
Can I ask what tariff you are on and your region in order to get your electricity for 8p a unit as that is very cheap indeed. I cant recall ever getting a unit for that price!EE's cheapest current electric-only tariff for NWEngland is 9.96p per unit VAT included with £210 p.a standing charge. 16000kwh costs about £1800 with a DD of £150pm
So still a considerable saving but I don't envy that electric usage. Must be no gas.
Their best DF Electric is 11.2p with standing charge £75 p.a (there's another £75 for the gas)
Was at work earlier so didn't have exact figures to hand. I guess it's almost 9p per unit but SSE Atlantic was 12.82p per unit so still almost a 4p per unit saving.
Opted for higher standing charge which is fine when your a high user, as it's always works out much cheaper.
We are in the Midlands.
And yes - I do have a gas bill aswell ! Currently with Npower.
Sadly teenagers use a lot of electric. They unplug nothing, leave tv's, consoles etc all on even when they go out and tbh, I'd drive myself crackers running round turning everything off and unplugging everything constantly, for them to come back in, turn it all back on and then go out again ! (I tried it once and by day 2 I was ready to kill them all!)
Electricity
Tariff Name: Variable Price
Unit Rate: 8.84p per kWh (Day)
Payment Method: Direct Debit
Standing Charge: 57.54p per day
Annual Consumption: 16189 kWh
Estimated Annual Spend: £1,641.13
All prices shown above include VAT; for further information please refer to our Terms and Conditions.0 -
Coo, they've made a major advance on their website.
I don't mean they've fixed the security certificate message (though they have) but they now have a live page for managing and changing Direct Debits.
Take care, though. You can ask for an increased monthly DD. But if you change your mind and want a slightly lower one, you can't do that!0 -

I was going to post the same! I'm still waiting for them to tell me how to inform them of my new bank account for my DD. I've cancelled my DD to ensure they don't claim the money from the wrong account. I thought that would elicit a quick response, but 3 weeks and 3 requests on, nothing yet.0 -

As per my original post in mid Feb......I finally received my final bill (...my one & only bill i hasten to add) after leaving them at the end of Nov after 14 months ........After numerous promises & pointless conversations I thought that I would finally be able to draw a line under my awful experience with EE .....
The Final Bill stated that the credit that I am due would be paid into my bank account on the 11th March....guess what NOTHING!!!!
So I shall be on the phone to them again today .....!!0 -
As mentioned earlier by Biggles about the DD page I had a look.
I joined on 1st May 2014 and have had 1 electric bill but no gas. The electric bill was upto the end of November and I worked out the gas for all the time I am with EE upto 28/02/2015 and I am over £400 in credit and there are still taking £88 a month.
I went to the DD page and I went to put in £40 as DD amount but the computer said no but I can put in a higher amount.
I only have 5 months left to go and I don't want to be in credit with them for over £500 when I leave as reading some of these posts on here it takes ages to get the refund back.0
