Talk Talk call centres are so frustrating, the delays, being put on hold with the same single track on repeat, the unclear line, the "flannel they spin" questioning/doubting the reliability of competitors. If they only offered unbeatable deals to those few of us who call, it would save so much time!0

Off to sky I go. £15.40 line rental, £3.75 broadband BUT less £115 quidco and £25 M&S means less than a tenner a month over a year!0

5 months into 18 month TV/BB/Phone contract (first 6 months £5.50 discount).
I rang TalkTalk and got offered £5/month discount (months 6 to 18). Just asked for the cancellations department and said I don't want to pay the increase.
They were very open and even verbally offered me the chance to cancel without penalty.*** This Space For Rent ***0 -
I want to cancel talk talk and move to bt. Due to prices going up I plan to get out of my contract for free.
Can someone please answer the following questions for me before I do so:-
Do i need to phone them to cancel before doing anything or can I just order with bt online? I want the easiest option but ensuring that i will not have to pay a cancellation fee.
Will I lose internet for a while in between?
any information especially from those having done this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.0 -
The price rise isn't ideal, but Talk Talk are pretty good to haggle with.
I just rang them and they have agreed to renew my line rental for the old price of £126, rather than the new price of £141 (despite not being out of contract for anothe two months, which is after the price rise takes place).
They have also cut my monthly Essentials Phone and Broadband package from £8.50 a month to £2.25, which I am more than happy with give that its unlimited and not subject to fair usage.
So that's a total of £12.75 a month which isn't bad all things considered.
Might be worth calling them if you're thinking of leaving to see what they can offer you.0 -
Just had a bit of a frustrating phone call with TalkTalk after sending an 'I want to leave' email. Firstly I was told I had nearly run out of time if I wanted to leave without penalty - I only got the price rise email on Apr 27th "yes but the email left our system on the 17th" (erm?!?!?) secondly I was told I would have to return the YouView box - I asked her to put that in writing to me and lo-and-behold the email says I can keep the YouView box
?! (I'm assuming it will continue to work for Iplayer/4od etc with any Internet connection?)
Anyway, aside from this, I have been offered a £2 a month discount until the end of my £8.50 contract (about 11 months) sounds like others here have fared much better. I have not been too unhappy in general with TT as I went in having listened to a few horror stories - the main issue is the woeful speeds I'm getting - only around 3 to 3.5mb. Has anyone had any luck negotiating a discount on fibre? Any general tips for getting a better discount offer? TT have offered to send an engineer out to see if they improve my speeds, is this likely? I'm worried about accepting the offer and being stuck with the same crumby speeds!
I'm tempted by a BT offer I've seen. although it would be more, at least it would be quick:
BT Infinty extra
£16 month (£8 for 6 months)
£15.99 line rental (or £141 upfront)
18 month contract
38mb speed - 40gb limit
£100 Sainsburys card
potential £140 cashback through Quidco - anyone know if this applies for this package?0 -

One of the main reasons I gave up my landline was because of the woeful broadband speed on ADSL, not to mention the silent calls, marketing rubbish and calls for people who owned my old phone number 15 years ago!
Anyway, call me cynical, but I don't see how sending an engineer out would actually improve your speed. If you are on ADSL and there is no fiber optic or cable to a cabinet in your street, I doubt you will fare any better than the speeds you already get. It's all very well putting a fiber optic cabinet in the street, but you will still have copper lines going to the house. Quite when copper lines going to the house will be replaced, is anyone's guess, but in my area, it isn't going to happen until I'm very old I suspect.
Good luck with what ever you decide.0 -
Thanks ever so much for this - the price rise had sneaked past me (100% of attention devoted to house-hunting), and I've just managed to get out of my contract with no penalties. We're moving on Sunday! #win :j
They were being a real nuisance when I phoned them to try and arrange a temporary suspension of services for the couple of months we are staying with my parents and all they offered was to suspend the service (so no-one else can use it) and continue charging me full whack! Not what I can customer service...
Huge huge thanks, and I definitely won't be using them again in my new place0 -
Can anyone please help me, as far as I am aware, I have not received no email, letter or text message advising me of the price increase. I am to late to leave talk talk and will occur £160 charge. I had signed a 2 year deal with one more year to go. I am about a month late. Is there anyway beating these Coperates and leaving talk talk ? Thank you0

What really bothers me is that after a few months Customer service becomes absolutely dire. As for the TV package it is hopeless and all but pointless, with constant sales messages about buying sports, etc. Awful. Can't wait to exit.0
