ok, after many a rocky road and trials i seem to have found mr right. Someone I've known for 4 years ish. We have now been a couple for a year. He wants to marry me..... My son ((14) has given his blessing. I've previously been anti marriage which he knows. However my view has changed. I've told him yes but I'm not sure he took me seriously.
any thoughts on letting him know subtly i am serious?

If he wants to marry you love, why be subtle?

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Tell him!

Or talk about what sort of wedding you want and try to narrow it down to a date so you can start planning. It'll be pretty apparent that you're serious then!
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

Sorry but if you have to ask other people how to talk to your own other half!? Why would you need to be subtle? Cant you just come out with it?

because l feel stupid at 43 wanting to do it. I'd like it to be special for us without the fuss. And due to family hassles it would only be us,my son,his son (27) and my dad and step mum.
tempted to just say gretna green!!!!
    still feel stupid though

What part of your independence do you think you'll be giving up when you get married?

Plenty of people get married in their 40s. He wouldnt have asked you if he thought it was stupid!

Then just tell him outright. Hanging on to bits and pieces of your independence in this regard would just feel like mind games IMO.
