ERUDIO student loans help

Hi Tom. Although my DAF was sent out around the time it normally would be (at least 8 weeks before my deferment was due to run out), everything since has been shambolic. As you will see from some of the posts above this, there have been big delays in them processing my completed form and supporting documents this year, and they have been exceptionally slow to communicate. I returned my form and evidence in plenty of time, but they have still not processed them, and it is now a few weeks since my deferment ran out. When I finally got a reply to an email I sent them, they were claiming that I had not sent them my most recent bank statement, which I had. My latest action has been to formally complain about their very poor 'service' this year. You should definitely have received a DAF from them by now if last year's was signed on July 14th, so you will need to contact them to let them know, but they may be slow to respond.
As for the loans being written off, I think for loans that were taken out in the 90s, it is supposed to be 25 years after the last one was taken out. Mine should also be written off next year but, particularly in view of how things have been with Erudio this year, I would not be surprised if they massively drag their heels when it comes to confirming that the loans are indeed written off.1 -
Hi Furious,Thanks for the reply. Twenty minutes ago I finished a phone call with Erudio, actually I think they finished with me as it seemed to automatically go to answerphone after ten minutes, unless I pressed a button with my cheek.Anyway, I left a message to send the form to my email and then I wrote an email to both their email addresses asking to receive the form to my email. We shall see what happens. If all this falls on deaf ears then I will use the blank copies on my computer, from last year, and use them for this year's deferment. They'll probably complain that the balance or the form script on the right edge is not correct but I'm sure, that legally, I have done what I'm obliged to do.Cheers,Tom.2

Just re-sent the email again to both addresses after zero responce.Has anyone had any sort of coherent responce, from either the 'customerservices' or 'deferments' emails, on any subject?Cheers,Tom.0

The only timely response I've had was from the complaints dept when I lodged a complaint about the lack of response from the other emails I'd sent!1

Elwood,Thanks for the info. No, no arrears so that will be something to look forward to.So, if my pre 98 loans are to be wiped this year could that explain why I have not received my deferment forms (as if), since last year was the final year that a deferment was required?Tom.0

Initially I was going to suggest you put a letter in with your deferment application stating that your 25 years is almost up and you expect them to write off the loan this September. But on the other hand, it might be better not to antagonise them by pointing that out - just let the deferment application get approved first.
One other thing - you talk about your 'pre 98 loans', does that mean you have other loans too? I think all mortgage loans might be lumped together (pre and post 98), so if you have later ones they all get written off together at 25 years after your last loan. I don't think pre and post 98 loans are separated out to expire apart from each other. So if you have later mortgage style loans than 1996-7, unfortunately you'll have to wait longer before any/all of them get written off.1 -

Thesis effectively treated all three as one single loan, referring to it / them by the reference number for the 93/94 loan, and it was written off in October 2020 - 25 years after I took out the 95/96 (i.e. final) loan. Even the email that Thesis sent me to inform me of the write-off only referenced my "loan" (singular) with the 93/94 reference number, and I had to get them to confirm unequivocally that all three loans had been written-off ("cancelled" in their terminology). So on that basis, as ElwoodBlues has already said - and you've since confirmed no arrears - you're near the light at the end of the tunnel.[Edit] ElwoodBlues mentions the possibility of Erudio putting a spanner in the works, and they've certainly got form for that. You should be just months from loan maturation (in accordance with the T&Cs), but yes, watch out for any dirty tricks...0 -
Sorry to jump on this thread - though I have used it before and had many, many issues with Erudio in the past - plus a successful Ombudsman case. I have split loans between Thesis and Erudio.
Would anyone be able to tell me when my loans are due to be written off? I started Uni in Sept 97 and Graduated in July 2000. Took one loan out for each year - so Sept/Oct 97, 98 and 99. I have asked SLC and Thesis, AND Erudio and none have responded (it's been months since the request).
Thanks
