DFS sofa poor quality thread bare!!!

i bought a sofa from dfs approx. 2 years ago. shortly after I bought it I called out the engineer to come and see as the cushions were flat and the fabric was bobbling. his advice was to puff the pillows(these are massive cushions and its was really hard work to do this) he only 'puffed' one out of the 3 as he said they are only allowed to do 1!!! and to use one of those small gadgets used to get bobbling of fabric off clothes, which basically is a blade that cuts of the bobbles on the fabric.
so after that we paid for the cushions to be replaced with foam, this was not via DFS and cost us an extra £150,it was impossible to sit on the cushions as they were paper thin and the frame would dig into the legs. the fabric still bobbles due to friction so is really bad on the seats used the most and areas where feet are put up on the furniture. I use the gadget as advised and now the fabric is getting to a stage where it is thread bare!!!
in my opinion the fabric is not fit for purpose.
my question is am I in my right to ask for a replacements sofa, I don't want the same one and the same problems happening!
is there any regulation I could quote when speaking to DFS, I have tried many times to deal with this but don't really get anywhere.
many thanks

I just replaced the cushions, they don't know that! its the fabric that is the issue. I have only done what their engineer told me to do.0

my question is am I in my right to ask for a replacements sofa...
Yes, you have every right to ask for a replacement sofa.
Just be prepared for their refusal.
Have a read of MSE's Consumer Rights guide and you will find that you will probably need to prove to DFS that the sofa is inherently faulty.
Once you have convinced them of that, they should offer a remedy which could be a repair, replacement or a refund.
Any refund could be reduced to take account of the use you have had.
You may well find that they will tell you that 'shaving' the sofa is user inflicted damage.
Good luck.0 -

even if they told me to?0 -
I don't have it written down.
I know that if I call them out again they will do the same, I think I might call the engineer out and get it in writing and then contact them.0 -
You are not very "lucky" buying things are you?

Hi its Nicola at DFS
I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues regarding 'bobbling' on the fabric of your sofa.
I understand that one of our service managers has taken a look at the sofa with a view to rectifying your concerns. However, I am disappointed that the issues do not appear to be have been resolved.
If you would like to give me a call at Head Office on 01302 330365, I would be more than happy to look into this for you.
Thanks

I have bought a sofa from DFS,I first both a four seater lounger sofa 001 silver in colour which DFS had to be replace in less than four months, because it was of poor quality and was faulty.
It was replace with a cream leather four seater lounger sofa, which in less than three months had to be repaired because the stitching was coming out.The sofa had only been used lightly and is always covered. Since the repair's had been done there are more stitching coming out and the back cushion which can not be removed, because it's only there for display purposes, it's been faulty since the sofa had arrived to my home. DFS up on there visit told me to just plump it up and it would be ok. It is still not ok , has it is faulty. DFS said over the phone they could not give me a full refund, they could only come out to repair it again.I refuse it's not right that I have to pay £1,863.00 for a faulty sofa.
they came out to do a repair already, I will not wast my time and allow them to come out again its less than six months this should not have happen.
The sale of goods act states that any item you buy from a trader someone selling goods as a business such as shop or online shop must be.
