I love Aldi. I've defected from the other supermarkets. There are some branded products I insist on using - all cleaning products, because they work better.
I was told that the owners of Lidl and Aldi are brothers who had a disagreement and one set up in rival to the other. They are incredibly similar. Lidl has those little bakery ovens which is a bit of a bonus and seems to have a regular section of discounted, random branded stuff. The fruit and veg is ripe in Aldi - means I can make guacamole on th day and eat soft cherries. It turns quickly as a result but I find us wasting less as I'm not waiting for stuff to ripen and forget, resulting in it going in the bin.
I don't think either is a posh alert, but I'm into the stage where I don't care. It's that cheap. I filled a trolley to brimming on Monday and bought things I don't often buy (as they get inhaled) and spent £66 - for 5 days shopping for two full grown men, a teenage boy, me and a 9 year old.
I make dinners from scratch so in the main it's fruit, veg, meat and deli.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I've always said I don't buy bread/rolls etc that are exposed to the general public as you don't know who has touched them or coughed on them.0 -

All I know is that when I looked into faxes you had to use a fax service in some way.... but I didn't have a scanner at the time so maybe I was looking at something different
I'm a coop customer and the online limit for faster payments is around 10k. It varies apparently depending on their fraud protection algorithm. However, if you telephone they can send up to 100k by FP.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Add black pudding and a kidney or two and I'm there.
I'm quite partial to a bit of lamb's liver with brekkie too. Nom.
I guess that you can manage that if you are cycling 20k into work and the same back again. My exercise is a bit more limited - a couple of miles walk so far today.
Brunch today for me consists of oatbran and wheat bran mixed, with a couple of apples chopped in. It's very tasty. Oatbran on its own is a bit bland, and wheat bran on its own is just unpleasant. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Opticians appointment done... eyes slightly worse than last appointment (ok for 8 years... I found the last prescription) but otherwise healthy.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I've not been on the bike in 2014 and, funnily enough, my biggest breakfast has been 2 slices of bacon, an egg and a slice of toast.
I've still put on 3kg since treatment started.
Now my problem is starting to become fueling my body. I've not been eating before 2pm: the pain from hunger has to be greater than the pain from eating. I've been trying to eat high calorie stuff and then plenty of veggies too. I've been eating lots of cheese and jelly beans. Today, breakfast was fish n chips at 1pm. Yesterday it was a smoked salmon sandwich and a glass of wine at 12pm. The day before it was soup and a bread roll at 3.30pm.
This is a effing mess. My lips are starting to split and chap like I wasn't looking after myself in a N European winter. We were going to go for a burger for lunch but then I realised I can't open my mouth wide enough to fit a burger in.:(
Mrs Generali and I watched the David Beckham thing about riding a motorbike through the Brazilian rainforest with a bunch of blokes. It was very interesting. I would recommend it to you, regardless of your views on soccer. It was an insight into a man.0 -
Generali, have you asked for an appointment from a specialist cancer dietician? I know there are things they can do for that... my sister is head dietician at a hospital and sees radiotherapy patients all the time. (She'd not give advice without the notes as it's not ethical, but she'd say to get specialist advice)“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I love oat meal.
Gen, now the treatment is over can you try vit e oil on you lips? Its a miricle worker for me. The thicker you can get it the better, but if the best you can do is the thin stuff just apply more often. I have thick gloopy stuff that has the consistency of honey and it really is miraculous. A health food store is your best bet for it. If they don't have it in a bottle you can buy capsules to swallow and pop them and apply.0 -

I'm not dying just yet and overall I think my diet is ok even now. I'm actually being careful to ensure I get the fuel that I need.
If things are still bad in a couple of weeks than I'll seek specialist guidance. I don't see the point in crapping myself after a couple of days and wasting the time of someone who has very, very sick patients to look after.
If I thought the problem was even remotely existential then I'd be to the doc like a shot but it isn't. I have a very 1st World problem really. Basically my whinge is that I'm eating jelly beans rather than organic quinoa and that it's ouchy.0
