Our Volvo has a nice touch. It adjusts the driver's seat and mirrors automatically, depending on which key has been used to open it. So, it remembers DW's settings, which are very different from mine. I never thought that I would sing the praises of an electrically operated driver's seat, but it really is rather helpful if there is more than one driver.

AC, I can't remember the last time we used it.

Our Granada did that, too, oh I miss that car!

Still never found out what happened to it, although I suspect it ended up back in the former USSR (where we bought it), as although it was on Russian plates (then Georgian, which is how we sold it), it came with no export paperwork, making EU re-import far more than the car was worth.

I know it was originally German, as the original export plates were still in the car, but couldn't prove it IYSWIM.

I use the air con in the car for defrosting the windscreen in winter, as somebody has already mentioned. In the summer I put the windows down if travelling at 40mph or slower, and use short bursts of air con if at 50mph or faster. I don't like it to be on cold for very long or it makes me feel that I'm being refrigerated, which I don't like.

I got a letter from my GP today. Some of my blood work has come back. No full blood count - blood bottle incorrectly labelled so it's got to be done again - but some other results including low B12. I'm to go back to discuss it.

This is very exciting. It means it's possible that my lethargy isn't purely psychological, and opens up new possibilities for getting better. :D Although since I eat, and have always eaten, plenty of the stuff that has B12 in it, it may be a bit more "interesting" than just a supplement or change of diet.

ETA I have finished my reports (and the chocolate fingers). That is, I've drafted them. Still need to do the proof-reading and upload them.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I've never shared a car with anybody.

Once a year I book my car in for an MoT. I park up, shove the seat back, lock the car up and hand over the keys. When I return to the vehicle I get in, adjust the seat forward and drive off. That's it for the year.

I love aircon. When we're over in Brisbane I shut myself up inside with the aircon and fox sports on the telly whilst OH's family sit outside in 35 degrees and horrid humidity, usually with jeans on drinking cups of tea!

I especially like coming into a hotel room where the aircon has been on at lowest possible setting after sitting out in the sun for a couple of hours.

Off to the tip today with a car stuffed entirely full of cardboard and polystyrene. What with the aircon and packaging I'm not doing the environment much good...

Isaac's 9th birthday party today - so action stations, as we prepare for an invasion of small, over-excited people.

We're doing a swimming party with tea afterwards. Several advantages, including tiring them out a bit.

OH has gone off to the supermarket with Isaac and Kermie to acquire necessary quantities of fat and sugar laden grub.

I've never shared a car with anybody - and wasn't allowed to drive dad's car ever.

We rarely drive each other cars, both because of the faff of adjusting the seats and mirrors and the comfort factor of driving a car you know.

There is also the insurance factor. If you have a knock in the others car that needs declaring on your insurance (as in the main driver had an accident in another car) and on their car insurance (please repair my car that someone else has caused to be damaged). If you have a knock in your own car you declare it on your insurance and the effect on the other's insurance should be minimal (named driver had a knock in different car).

Scary air conditioning moment. Driving through death valley, california there is a sign that says to turn air conditioning off to protect engine from over heating. Outside temperature 114 C, car engines just can't cope.

Sounds fun. Do you have to swim with them?

Looking on facebook, the standard of birthday cakes has gone through the roof, as has the prices. £30 for a designer birthday cake.
