Don't forget the soft cheese in tubes, Primula? Sometimes with flavoured bits in them (pineapple? ham?), although those might have been early 80's?
And Angel Delight.... Butterscotch flavour was actually OK.
Cup-A-Soup too, that was the 70's.
And salad cream.... Vile stuff.
I used to love Primula cheese with chives. I bought a tube last time I was in the UK. I still like it as it turns out.0 -
DS1 studied psychology with sociology, he said the teaching options were restrictive because they were both predominantly A level only subjects and schools liked at least a secondary subject that could be taught lower down the school. This is third hand info because it was some of his course mates that looked into teaching, not him. Anyway you are more likely to get a good degree if you enjoy the subject and nothing would be more miserable than studying a subject you don't enjoy.
DS2 is studying psychology. So between them there may be old text books lying around. If you have a list of books that your DS needs, I can look if we have them. Posting them would be expensive, but I could deliver to H. (It is H isn't it?)
Starting to be concerned here. Ordered malaria tabs for DS2 from the Sunday Times recommended online supplier, posted out Thursday and they haven't yet arrived. We need them by Wednesday. If they are lost in the post I'm stuck...
That would be a great help! H?We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

A quick Google resolves things.
Francis Matthews who played Paul Temple and Captain Scarlet has died.
In addition, Casey Casem who was the voice of Shaggy and presented the internationally syndicated Billboard Top 40 has died.
Generali is alive and wellish. He has a throat infection and feels very tired. I'm starting to get radiation burns on my gums and tongue which is just as much fun as it sounds.0 -

I suspect ... you and I, and most of us here, are probably too old to really care though
My name is not out there.... it's an odd 'un.
There's probably money to be made, if lucky, buying them and flogging them on ebay.
Youngest had one done with Lucario on it, don't ask me where he came up with that name but it is one of the names he calls himself. We made it! Starting to go mad here. Distinctly recall crafting together a post saying that Francis Matthews played amateur sleuth Paul Temple who our parents would have watched, and Captain Scarlet from the kids puppet shows. Casey Kasem was the American DJ who was Shaggy's voice in most of the Scooby Doo series.
Then when I tried to post it it all disappeared into the ether somehow!

Middle son's latest drum cover, it won't be to everyone's taste as it is quite heavy/screamy/bangy but it appears to be going down well.

PasturesNew wrote: »Would nice, cold, ice cream make that feel a little better sometimes?
I'm sure it will once it starts to hurt. At the moment I have scaly skin only.
The local shop has some really nice ice cream made of just milk, eggs, sugar and vanilla. I will be asking Mrs Generali to bring some home.0 -
PasturesNew wrote: »Before Ski only "freaks and foreigners" would eat yoghurt ... and they'd be hard pushed to find it I bet.
My Granny used to make it, with a yogurt maker in the airing cupboard. She wasn't foreign, though, so she must have been a freak (-:Generali is alive and wellish. Ouch, you poor love! Can you treat the symptoms of them? Bonjela, or something that helps with mouth ulcers, perhaps?PasturesNew wrote: »I've not seen them, but I wrote a short item about them last summer - there was a "tour" round some events where you could have any name printed on the bottle.
It's very clever indeed.
They have my Dad's name! No-one ever has his name, at least, with his spelling of it, anyway. So they might well have yours, PN?PasturesNew wrote: »Smoking, drugs, alcohol ..... if you have to do one of them, most people choose booze.... so why is choosing smoking so bad?
For a professional sportsman, the effect on his puff would be quite bad, surely? As an ex-smoker, IMHO the enjoyment of smoking is almost entirely grounded in the removal of withdrawal symptoms. I can't think of a single positive thing that I miss about smoking.
I read a claim as a student that the drugs that were banned in the 1870s health craze were those taken by the working class. Middle class drugs (booze and tobacco) were kept legal.
I can think of some things. But maybe I've not been an ex-smoker long enough!
Principally, I miss the "treat" and "quiet togetherness" aspects of it - I mostly smoked with OH, and it was a thing we did together as a reward. So now we try to do other things together instead (he gave up too).
What drugs were banned in the 1970s? I can't think of any major ones - heroin / opiates were prescriable by pharmacists until the 1920s, from memory.
I don't think booze was a middle class drug, it was an all-classes one (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
