Well done! Are there parts of the country with no green bin collection for grass tippings?

Don't be too vigorous in your lawn mower cleaning. They were built to be cleaned once a year; unlike ovens.

Here, if you want the green bin collected, you have to register and pay a fee. It's only worthwhile if you live far from a tip and/or have a large garden. My 2-3 boxes/year's not worth it.

It's £40/year and they will empty a 240 litre wheelie bin every fortnight.

My other advice would be to avoid death by Powerpoint: don't read out a bunch of slides, it's pointless. Have a small number of bullet points and make every single word on your prezzo easy to read. No complex maps. Have a headline and then talk about it..

Ask questions of the audience. Don't be 'zany' or have weird competitions because that undermines the message.

You've been asked because you're awesome at something or perhaps because your boss hates you. My guess is the former.

DH puts phrases that mean spoke thing only to him in to keep him happy and focused. So if you are ever at a conference about some weird point of law and notice some random Ellington lines , it might be DH.

I used to like it, not sure I would so much now.

My tip is to wear nice knickers. Its pretty much my tip for everything. But it works.

    Thanks gen :D

Slides done. 10 slides (incl title and acknowledgements), 10 mins (its only a short talk).

    Short bulletpoints and diagrams.

I'm not too bad at preparing slides, its the other bit that is problematic!

I've been asked as I think the organisers were short of speakers. It's apparently a very informal meeting, but there will be lots of people there that I interact with in other parts of my job, so I could do with not looking like a gibbering wreck. But if I do, so be it :)

Me neither .... don't even know what it is .... except it's clearly a film (?) with Jane Fonda in it.

    I've not seen it either.

Edit: Maybe lir can do a screening for us when we go round that weekend to help with the room makeover?

    :)

    Generali's prezzo guide in full:

    - Introduce yourself and explain why you are qualified to speak (important: don't skip)
    - Quick summary of what you want to cover. Joke at the end of that bit.
    - Headlines on the prezzo, fill in the gaps.
    - Move. Pace around.
    - Be as passionate as is natural. If you don't care about it why should the audience?
    - Ask questions of the audience. There'll normally be 1 or 2 that want to speak up. Create a conversation.
    - Use vernacular language.
    - Sum up at the end. Finish with a big thank you to the audience.
    - Never, ever make up an answer. If you get asked a q and you don't know the answer simply ask them to email the question after the show (and it is a show) and you'll give them a good answer rather than making something up.

    Nikkster's guide to presenting:
-Prepare a nice looking set of slides
    -Be scared witless
-Clearly appear to be scared witless
-Be very glad when it's all over

I used to have a girlfriend who looked a lot like Jane Fonda only a fair bit shorter. There's a regret right there.

As a teen I was once told, post smoochy dance with fellow teen "It's a shame your not taller. You could have been really attractive."

    I am almost over it.*sob*

Is that a tip for Gen and his Hospital visits? Perhaps he should be sent some .... frillies.

And that will help him and Mrs Gen how?

Unless it makes radiotherapy the least of his problems.
