And yet they knew home was where you should be :D. Don't seem that dim to me in that decision at least.

    Oh, doozer has arrived....

Big kiss generali.....great big kiss. Give mrs gen a hug for me too please.

I had 2 people tell me that there was no reason why the operation should still hurt. For one of them it was because they had a different operation which didn't hurt very much. For the other it was because codeine isn't effective like morphine is. As I was taking codeine not morphine the operation must be pain free. QED.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Maybe I'm wrong, but doesn't codeine break down into opeoids (sp) which are, like, effectively legal opium without the pleasurable effects.

    It's a very powerful drug.

A Doctor once told me that codeine breaks down into Morphine. The reason they prefer to prescribe codeine if pain is bad but not hideous is that codeine doesn't give you the high so you are less likely to become addicted and it's less salable on the secondary market.

I've been thinking of Gen all night, and also of NDG and her hyperemesis. I will spare you a description of my indignities, and just say that I am stuck upstairs because my bed in my bedroom is within 6 yards of a loo but the sofa downstairs is not, and that this morning I am rejoicing in the exciting and precious ability to drink water and keep it down.

Hugs to all ill NP and best wishes for swift recoveries for everyone.

Crivens. Apparently when the polytechnics became unis, Newcastle's was to become the City University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

At the end of my time at UCL, the Royal Free medical school merged with UCLH medical school and became the Royal Free University College Medical School - so absolutely inevitably known as "R-Fuc(k)ers"

Telling anyone that someone which does hurt them shouldn't do so is a smacking offence, I reckon.

Just on the way back from the Ideal Home Show (followed by dinner and drinks). Was ok, but kind of glad I hadn't paid for the ticket. Bought a bottle of some kind of sloe port thing and that was it.

You don't *buy* things made from sloes!

I'll be draining my autumn 2013 sloe gin shortly, I'll send you some.

Ouch! Did you eat something horrible, or catch a bug? Did the children have it too?

I had a throw-up-session last night too, but as a silver lining, the bathroom's now shiningly clean....

Sigh... what does enthusiastic exercise by newbie weight lifter equal?

Can't bend elbow. That's what it equals. D'oh.

    No idea what caused it.

DS is fine and has gone off to school. DD says she has a tummy pain and feels sick so I am keeping her at home. I've no way of telling whether she's actually ill or just trying to get in on the act with the "day off school" motif, but quite appreciating having somebody in the house who is fully clothed and can answer the door etc if necessary. She seems to have understood the importance of leaving me alone. :)

I managed only to cause myself a very modest amount of extra cleaning to do in the bathroom, and to get it more or less clean pretty much straight away. It'll need a more thorough clean when I'm better, of course, but that can wait.
