Brother asked if I could look after neice for a couple of hours today.....it ended up being 5 blooming hours...I was not an impressed cookie and I am really feeling it tonight in my joints (these bones are just not made for walking with a buggy or getting on the floor to change a nappy).

Proved one thing though, given the right input, she behaves brilliantly. Not one tantrum, not one scream (apart from ones of joy) and no running off...just lots of smiles, giggles and a very well behaved little girl. There was no giving in either, I don't do giving in. She just has an active and inquisitive mind and needs input plus she likes pushing the boundaries a little, reminds me of me actually. Once she knew where my boundaries were and that I didn't react like all the other adults, not once did she stray over them.

Oh and not one single occasion of a raised voice by me or the threat of a smack, I also don't do smacks...I'm strict but fun and fair.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I love Daniel, are we to refer to him as DAniel or Danny?

How are you doing NDG? what does Isaac think of being a big brother?

Danny. Until he gets old enough to refuse to answer to it, I suppose?

I'm OK, still recovering slightly, but over the worst of it. My organs feel as if they've gone back into the places they were pushed out of by 8lb of baby and all the rest of it. Stitches and cuts and so forth also healing nicely. WE're still sleeping in the spare room, though, as the ladder to our bed seems a step too far, yet.

Or more accurately, we're still "not sleeping" in the spare room, as Danny's not really got the hang of "day" and "night" yet.

OH went back to work this week, and I miss him! He spent almost every minute of the 16 days before that in the same place as me and Danny, and it's hard having him back at work.

In his section of Chambers, though, all of them have babies under 8 months old, apart from 2 who are gay. His corridor at work has 10 men working there, and 8 of them are new fathers. So they can swap tips and point out baby sick to each other.

    Congratulations LJ!

Daniel Mark, cool name one that doesn't seem to age. Didn't we talk about naughty Daniels weeks ago?

Yes, but I don't have that association, so I'm not too fussed (-:

He can't have his Brit yet, because he still has bruises on the side of his face and head from the forceps, and the mohel wants to wait until he's completely recovered, first. Which slowed down the name-choosing; Isaac's Brit prompted OH to make up his mind about his name earlier in the baby's life!

I agree with all of you about handheld showers, most useful.

I did contemplate that. However today I've found out the pond is pretty damned deep!
There will be little people visiting (eg nephews), so long term it isn't going to stay. Short term I'm considering draining it to be honest - better safe than sorry.

If the bed has been made, I can keep going til I give in, order pizza, collapse, eat pizza, & sleep.:D
    Then start again friday....

I agree with the other posters - ponds do add to bio-diversity hugely, and they can be made to be safe for small visitors without having to get rid altogether.

That lot sounds absolutely exhausting - and wonderfully fun, too! Hope you're managed to collapse into your own, made bed by now, and are sleeping the sleep of the righteous.

Spirit, sorry to hear about OH and pilot. Just be glad it was an airline that had copilots! One airline was talking about giving them up.

I don't think that they are allowed to in this country, at least. I remember OH saying that the planes to and from the Isles of Scilly were the only ones that were allowed by the Civil Aviation Authority to fly without a co-pilot.
Before I left the other hospital called and called be back.. Iiuc my tests have raised some more questions and I need further ones, early morning ones this time, so because I cannot do tomorrow ( I'm too tired I know my limits) I 'm going in next week for those.

    Feel fine, good and content.

    <hugs>

Hope you get a good night's sleep and feel well and happy tomorrow, too.

Lots of people experience it as anxiety... always being scared of things that might happen. Not exactly unhappy but not able to escape the prison of their own fears.

Some people experience the kind of emotions you describe but that isn't the only or most common type of depression.

Not strictly related to depression, but.....

I'm generally lacking in confidence, and whilst anxiety doesn't show, it definitely is there, especially if I'm doing something new. In the UK, that's fine, but definitely in Georgia (and when dealing in Georgian), it's much more easy to let my guard down, when dealing with things.

Multilingual NP will know that your personality largely changes when dealing in a certain language, and whilst I should become more aggressive in Georgian (I'm almost always calm in English), it seems to be the other was many times.

Just been asked an interesting question, and both sides of the argument to an extent are both correct and interesting.

Georgian government is speaking about putting the limit down from 60km/h to 50 in parts of towns and cities, both as a safety measure and to reduce emissions.

The safety I can understand, but the emissions? I drove up Rustaveli yesterday (I use the car on tiptronic mode with the flappy paddles) in 5th gear at 60, at about 1800rpm. To do the same at 50 (I've just checked) requires 4th at 2200rpm, as the gearbox won't physically stay in 5th without moving into auto mode and shifting down.

Same road (the uphill stretch of Rustaveli), same car (2003 Merc E55), almost the same conditions (23 degrees, dry, quiet enough traffic to not annoy everyone).

Am I completely bonkers (well, we all know that answer to that is yes), or am I onto something here?

There was a huge stir in Georgia when Armavia were talking about this for Tbilisi to Zvartnots. It never happened, however had it been pre-Saakashvili, it probably would have done.

There was a huge stir in Russia in the early 1990s when Aeroflot was buying Airbus planes, thus eliminating the need for a flight engineer.

I'm more comfortable flying with 2 pilots, than I would be with one, especially as I wouldn't want a newly qualified lone pilot (although we were with 2 friends last night who are both qualified captains with Airzena, with around 800 hours experience each, regularly flying the CDG and AMS routes together.)

I don't know if there are any hard and fast rules with the EU for non-EU pilots, but I can't see a flag carrier doing anything illegal.....

TBH Ck, I think there's a lot rubbish talked about emissions or at least contrary thinking. I limit my thoughts to how much Euro 6 will cost;)
The chief radiologist looks at them tomorrow morning. Next for me was determined in the need for more tests which is Monday ( was invited tomorrow but too tired and is not emergency, next week is ok but feel have to say that this lot are hot on moving things fast)
    s.

Best of luck for Monday. I am sloping off tomorrow for a week, so I won't be around.

@Yorkie, I think we make life too complicated for ourselves sometimes, are you sure the 5:2 works for you, no harm in trying different principles. Hugs to you.

@tomterm, nope no idea either, but :T

We have 2x Sprinter (one van, one band bus converted) on test for 18 months at the moment on E6 spec. Fuel costs are up by around 2p a mile (which works out to more than £1000 a year on the lowest-mileage, and around £1800 a year on the highest), and the conversion costs are supposed to be something like £2000 on a new vehicle.

We're going to be buying the E5 stuff for as long as possible, I can tell you that much. On a side note, aren't the '14' plate ones we have ugly?!

Good luck from us too. I'll be able to catch up maybe Sunday afternoon, when I get back to the UK.

Re flying with one pilot. I asked DH and for operational reasons sometimes planes fly with an extra pilot, so if the pilot was taken I'll on one of these it would still be able to leave.

Most commercial flights do not afaik use just 1 pilot. I once took an internal flight on a tiny plane in US to Tallahassee and there was only one member of cabin crew, but there were still two pilots.

Having said that, if you take the scenic flight over Fraser Island in Aus, or a helicopter flight, I think that type does often only have one pilot.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    .

    <hugs>

Hope you get a good night's sleep and feel well and happy tomorrow, too.

    I did and do.

I don't think scans or blood tests etc are half as demanding as having a baby! After all, all I'm required to do is get there and let others work, not spend nine months getting to a very hard physical period of work finished off with an undid inked period of no sleep.:D. In the short term I feel I have the better deal, even if longterm I accept very much you do! :D

I'm not worried about Monday in the least. :). Its tests, I'm good at tests. ;)
